BILLY THE COUNTER TOP SHOP OWNER IS A CROOK! Don't ever use them! Use A1 Kitchen and Bath if you want better pricing and a good installer. Use CKF if you're willing to pay a little more for a flawless install. Our construction company has used several countertop installers in Omaha. The Counter Top Shop has decent prices but does a C+ install at best. Their seams typically have small chips on the edges and they never seem to get the epoxy seam filler the correct color. They used to be very quick at scheduling which is why we used them several times. After our most recent experience with them we will never use them again. During the install they caused $200 in drywall damage. I was in the other room and heard them laugh and say "oh that was there when we got here!" I didn't put two and two together until one of my employees pointed out a large hole in our freshly painted drywall. They had not planned on telling me about the damage until I brought it up. I called their main office and the owner agreed to pay for the drywall damage but since we wanted them to pay for the drywall they were going to add on a $200 fee that they don't normally charge. I paid the original invoice minus the cost of drywall repair. I have now received a letter from their lawyer for a $400 bill. Twice the amount that it was when I last spoke with them! Bottom line these fees are ridiculous. They were not in the agreed upon price. They should have been honest and made things right when they made a mistake. Instead they laugh and lie about damaging our house and add on extra fees to make up for it!

Vicki, the office manager, was awesome!  She fielded several questions from me and answered each one in a timely manner and showed a great deal of patience with me.  I went into the shop after the granite arrived there, to discuss how different parts of the counter top would go on the granite.  Both Vicki and Shannon spent lots of time making it work for the best.  I really felt like they were truly vested in the project and wanting to insure that I would be truly happy with the final product.  The crew came out on a Saturday morning around 9:30, removed old counter tops, installed the granite, cleaned up and were done by 1:00.  The crew worked well together and I would certainly recommend The Countertop Shop.

We were treated as if we had a $50,000 job.  The owner, Billy, took time to help us decide what we needed in the kitchen, den, bathroom and on the living room fireplace.    The installers were always on time and very professional.  When we had a question, they took time to explain.  Yesterday, Monday, April 6, 2015, we returned to the Counter Top Shop for an additional job.  We just needed a small piece of marble to match the kitchen counter top.  Once again, Billy was there for us and helped us decide the best way to place the marble.  He told us our original marble was no longer available; however, he found a piece that was very similar that will be a good match.  My husband and I refer The Counter Top Shop to everyone.  It is a top-notch company.

Cut counters and island too short
granite is not smooth
damaged the front of  new SS dishwasher
broke the water line to Dishwasher
broke trim piece above dishwasher
Large crack from sink to wall
Very friendly
poor quality
promised a minor refund/ never received it
I picked out my slabs on a Monday and they were ready to install  Friday. It took them from 10 am until 6pm to install a fairly small counter and put the slab on the island. They were having trouble with our sink/faucet /dishwasher area and were working in that small space for more than half of the time they were here. I could never really get an answer about what the trouble was but there was clearly an issue and the installers were very stressed. Once they finally had the old counters removed there was a lot more cutting of the granite in the house than in my previous experiences. Again there was a lot of work and cutting going on in the sink/dishwasher area. We were also told they could install the counters under the back splash however they ended up having to cut out the bottom of that too. Eventually it was installed and that's where the trouble really started. We could not use the sink or dishwasher for 2 days due to having the new sink installed. As soon as we were able to use our sink and dishwasher we noticed a very large crack in our brand new granite from the sink to the wall. One end of our counter was clearly cut too short and ended up very far away from the wall and just filled with clear filler and our island was cut too short also!! We had them measure our island cabinets and told them exactly how much over hang we wanted on all 4 sides and the 2 sides with the bar stools were shorter than ordered. The front of our new dishwasher was dinged (slightly but still) and would not work properly.  It took 4 days to finally figure out they had somehow kinked the water line so badly we needed a new one. It worked perfectly fine before the installation of counters.  The tops of our new counters also ended up very snaggy to the touch in spots. Over all it was a very disappointing experience and I really wish I would have gone with a slightly more expensive more professional company.  Billy spoke with his lead installer who of course denied everything and therefore nothing was resolved. Billy said he would offer a $200 refund on the $4000 project but I never received it.  No I would not hire again. In fact we are replacing the counters in 3 bathrooms and redoing the bar area and now on the hunt again for a decent granite fabricator.

Response from The Counter Top Shop
"I am sorry for your unhappiness. We did the job as specified. Clearly you needed to be home the day of install. Your husband praised the work we did both times we came out and he even gave advice when we ran into problems with the tile. Your husband is awesome but , I feel it would have been better hearing you were unhappy, while my guys were there working. They could have fixed your issues, had you had any, at that time. Fissures or what are natural cracks in the stone can , and will always be, a possibility in natural stone countertops. We are sorry your counters had these in perfect natural stone features. I feel as you tried to pick apart the job in order to see what discount you could receive. As I looked at the pictures for your completed job I will issue no refund for a job that nice. Thank you for your review Billy Brooke CTS"

We had chosen another dealer and had another bid prior to meeting Billy.  After our first meeting we knew we had found the right man for the job.  He took time to educate us on the products and even gave us a tour of the work area.  It gave us a new perspective on what goes into a project.  The measuring and installation were done in a professional manner and they cleaned up after themselves.  The men were all very kind and polite and worked as a team.  Each installer knew is job and "went right to it".
We are very pleased with the excellent workmanship, finished on time, and the beautiful transformation.
If you are looking for a great team contact Billy and his fabricator, Patrick.

It was really good. We had a difficulty with a new worker and he didn't like the way it looked; so he stayed until it was done right and I appreciated that.

Billy and his team did an amazing job. We received our estimate quickly, they templated in a timely fashion and installed in two weeks as promised. They had a great price and were very courteous. The granite was installed and looks very professional I would recommend them to anyone.

Billy called me back immediately and gave an estimate the same day. He was fair, honest, and helpful. He was patient and helpful while picking out granite as well. Pat was great during the installation as well. The tear out of old countertops and installation of new took a whole day. The plumbing was hooked up the next day. The kitchen could have been shop vac'd better before Pat left, but that is getting a little picky. Overall, I am very happy with their service!

One of the best contractor experiences I've had. Helped us select patterns, showed up on time for every appointment and for the work. Work was accomplished quickly, thoroughly, and with wonderful craftsmanship. Followed up to make sure everything was satisfactory. Price was the lowest of any bids received. This is a small business that takes the time to make sure you are pleased with their work. Great price, great work, and nice people. If you want new counters, give the little guy a chance to bid on your job. You won't be sorry you did.

A homeowners dream come true. We have had some lousy experiences with contractors over the years, and these guys are a breath of fresh air. Billy Brooke and Patrick DePass are master craftsmen and great people to work with. They always show up on time and complete the work quickly and professionally. They replaced all the counters and cut the existing tile backsplash to fit perfectly with the new granite counters, saving the expense of redoing the whole backsplash. In addition, there were many little difficult details that had to be addressed during the installation and they did a superb job on all of them. Typical time from measuring for new counters to finished installation is about a week - unheard of with the big companies. I like to do business with small, local businesses, and they are among the best I've seen. We have received so many compliments on the new counter tops. I would not hesitate to do business with them again. If you want a great job at a very reasonable price and like to work with nice people, look no further than The Counter Top Shop. You'll be glad you did.
