Drefs came and did a survey of our property, asked appropriate questions, and gave an accurate estimate of the work. He said that he would call within two weeks to schedule the actual work. They called back and made an appointment within ten days and completed all the work within a single visit. All limbs, branches, leaves were removed. The only thing left was a much brighter back yard, and trees trimmed away from the house. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

He is an honest, young guy who does a good job. He shows up when he is suppose to and returns my calls. I am real pleased with him.

I called John the next day and said he would do the work on Friday or Tuesday. Came home from work on Friday and tree was still there. On Tuesday morning there were various trunks and equipment out side at 7 AM.
The tree was in the backyard about 60 feet from the street behind an 80 foot long hedge and fenced in yard. Quickly a man in a bucket at the end of one crane was reaching from the street into the tree and cutting branches. Another huge crane with John in the operators seat was extended high above the tree. A team of 6 other men were quickly running all branches through a powerful clipper. I was told by one of the men that the machine could handle 22 inch diameter branches and they had another machine that could handle over 30 inch. The team worked quickly and removed the tree. Several pieces including the trunk were lifted by the crane onto a flat bed trunk. Then they ground the trunk and removed the dirt and chips. The hole was then filled with dirt. The area was left clean and I gave John a check. John also felt it was a good decision to remove the tree after seeing the quality of the tree during the removal.
John does not use top soil to refill the hole so I would suggest not having it totally filled so that top soil could be added. I added several bags of top soil and have grass starting to grow.
We plan to plant some new trees in the fall.

I wasn't given a start time and was surprised when the crew started at 7am. The crew worked quickly and professionally. The supervisor explained how they choose what limbs to cut and how that would effect the trees' growth. They had the yard cleaned up and everything loaded on the trucks by 8:30am. Other than the surprise wake up call everything went well.

I met with John Drefs one evening and we discussed the different trees and bushes in my yard that I wanted removed. Our p**** willow bush was recently destroyed by wet-heavy snow. We have three very large Maple trees that are old. I felt that two of them should be removed. He identified one that should be removed. It had a lot of decay and several openings in the trunk. I also had another tree service look at the trees and they also agreed that this tree should be removed. John felt the largest tree was still healthy but needed to have some dead branches removed and trimmed. He gave me an estimate for $1,290 but that did not include removing the chips and filling the three holes with dirt. I also got an estimate from another tree service and their cost was higher. I contacted John and asked what he does with the chips. He said they back fill the stump hole with stump chips and excess chips are left on site (unless otherwise stated). The back of the estimate sheet said the chips are an excellent landscape mulch. I requested the chips be removed and the holes filled with dirt. He added $110 to the estimate for this. $80 for the large tree and $30 for the p**** willow bush and burning bush. I told him to go ahead. The next evening when he got home the one Maple tree had been trimmed nicely and the dead wood removed. The p**** willow and burning bushes were also gone. Everything was cleaned up well. Several days later I heard noise out front around 7 AM and say that John and his work crew were setting up to remove the large Maple tree. I left for work shortly before 8 AM and two thirds of the high branches were already removed and chopped. When I can home from work the tree was gone. The three stumps had been ground, chips were removed and the holes were filled with dirt. Cleanup was excellent. I mailed him a check the next day. I should note that we decided not to anything with our third Maple tree at this time. In several years I may have it removed by John.

Although I did not seek any other bids, the company was recommended by a friend I trust. Drefs provided the estimate within a few days of my initial call. They were able to schedule service soon after I decided to go ahead with the job. Drefs' crew showed up at exactly the time they said they would, and completed the job in a remarkably short time, including clean up. All the personnel I encountered on the phone and in person were cordial, respectful, and seemed very knowledgeable. Overall a pleasant experience!

We were thoroughly satisfied with the job. They were fast, efficient and did a great job. Five men got here at 7:00 a.m. and left about 10:00. The owner was very pleasant to deal with. They cut down two trees and trimmed one that weren't on the origianal bid for an additional $200.00. Even with the additional work, they were still $15.00 less than the next lowest bidder. We've had another tree service before and they weren't nearly as good to deal with and did not do as neat a job. We are well satisfied. The owner is not an arborist but he does a great job of trimming and cutting trees.

Had a limb fall. Saw inside of limb had rotted. Found carpenter ants. They cut rest of the bad limb off cleanly. They told me I needed to treat for the carpenter ants. I thought they'd probably do that, but apparently not. They also told me how to protect the open wound of the tree to prevent further damage. I thought they did that, but apparently not. So, all in all, they just cut the limb and carried dead limb away.

Last year the cottonwood in our front yard was damaged in the storm (that real bad June storm we had). They removed the entire thing (except for a nice stack of firewood they cut down and left for us, per our request) in less than 4 hours, stump and all. They started at 8am and were done by 11:30. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone of my friends.
