Remodeling Pros

This remodel was a nightmare we hired Alvin in good faith and expect the work to be at least as good as we could do. My husband and I have been ill and not capable of doing this remodel ourselves, this is why we hired someone. When Alvin came out to give us an estimate we asked how long for the bathroom? He said about 3 weeks. We thought with the bedroom added on it may take and extra week because there was nothing structual. We finally had to insist that they get the project done by a specified date because it had become obvious that they were going to drag this out as long as possible. The bathroom did require structural work as they had to enlarge the space-move one inside wall about 4 inches and reroute some plumbing and brace the floor under the shower. No structural work in bedroom. We wanted smooth walls not textured- they skimmed coated the entire room to make the walls smooth then painted with a roller with a longer nap hence the walls are textured. This is a very old house and requires the use of a level and shims. Because there was a time frame this had to be completed in and he elected to take a week vacation and an extra week to do another job plus doing other jobs during the course of this project (sometimes he was there and sometimes he was not) he ended up hiring 6 extra people to finish the job. I don 't know how he got all those people into the house the bedroom is 10'x12' and the bathroom is 5'x5'. The end result of this project was a plugged septic system-they put sheet rock mud and paper towels down the toilet and sink, a shower that the water pools in a corner and leaks around the flange and ceiling fan inproperly installed, it was not reinforced and could end up in my living room floor. They made a horrible mess of our house and ruined my lamiate floors. When we were there checking I noticed that they had not covered my floors and did not drape the bedroom door the protect the rest of the houe. The sheet rock dust was incredble and they walked on it and ground it into the lamiate floors. They cut all the sheet rock and lumber inside the house. Needless to say We are not very happy with this contractor and have ask him for a copy of his insurance as the septic may have to be dug up. He has yet to produce his insurance and now we are not sure if he licensed or insured. Please do not hire this guy
