Through the years we have continued to educate ourselves and have been certified in many manufactures products and application techniques. While Formica® countertops are scratch-resistant, they are not fully scratch-proof. They will develop marks on their upper decorative layer more easily than quartz, granite, or porcelain tile. Always use cutting boards for food prep and avoid dragging heavy items, such as blenders or big pots, across the surfaces.

You should always seal cut countertops to prevent damage and to keep them looking their best. The right way to seal countertops depends on the type of material. For laminate and wood, apply epoxy or other specialty sealers by pouring it onto the countertop and letting it flow across the whole surface to the edges, guiding it with a paint stick or putty knife. You will need to move quickly so that it does not dry or harden before you are done. For stone countertops, use a sealant specially manufactured for your type of stone and apply it according to manufacturer directions. 

Original Gorilla Glue is not a good choice for laminate countertops. It is not a contact cement, which is the best choice for this material, and it does not explicitly state that it should be used on laminate. Perhaps the best reason to avoid using Gorilla Glue on laminate is that it expands three times its original size, which could lead to your laminate being pushed away from the countertops.

You should never use gritty or abrasive cleaners to clean your Formica countertops, and the same goes for scouring sponges, steel wool, or anything acid-based like vinegar. Formica can't handle high heat, so never place anything fresh from the oven or off the stovetop on a laminate surface because it will scorch.
