After numerous meetings with both agents, and realizing the property had some serious issues, we decided not to buy it. The entire experience with the sellers agent was disturbing. It took 2 weeks from the time we originally said we did not want to buy the land before the he stopped asking for meetings.
Finally the seller's agent called me and told me he was not sure we would get our deposit back -- he had a list of reasons (all of which were absurd), the last of which included private information regarding my fiancé's credit scores. Since when are real estate agents able to obtain private information and then use it against you ?? And how did he get the information in the first place?
I called and complained to Watne's broker and did eventually get our deposit back. But I never was told where the seller's agent obtained our financial information, and what (if anything) was done to reprimand the seller's agent for his threats to us.
Again, I appreciated the agent that we worked with. - but the seller's agent makes the entire group look bad. It's been a year since we had this experience, and I can not get it off my mind. I've had numerous dealings in real estate before, but never had anyone manipulate facts, or bully me with information that he should have not had in the first place. (I've also talked to the VP of our bank, the only people in town that our financial records.)
- If you want your financial records kept private, chose another agency.
