In my opinion these are the worst contractors in history. One problem after another. I finally had to hire other companies to finish the work as it took over 9 months for Schmidt to try and do a 90 day job. I wouldn't hire them to move a dog house.

I should have seen the warning signs like always being late and full of excuses as to why they wouldn't be able to work on many days. Finally had to find other contractors to finish the work and it cost me more because I had already paid Schmidt. I would never use them again and would never recommend anyone else use them either. I now have done a lot more research and found numerous lawsuits in multiple counties and multiple states. Be aware or beware!

According to the original sale aggreement, Brandon stated there was a fire in the original furnace so he had a "brand new furnace" that was already in the trailor and it had a working central air unit, new skirting in another town to be included with the trailor, outside steps, leveling and anchoring of the trailor. Originally the trailor was to be moved first week of March, 2010. Due to "ground being too wet" we were told to wait and then to also bring in sand to level the lot the trailor was to be moved to. We purchased sand ourselves and waited for week 2 of March. Again, delayed because Brandon stated he did not "have the title to the trailor, the original owner still has it." Bank would not release the money until we had the title. We also found out at this time the furnace was not installed into the trailor yet, due to "the flood in Fargo taking all the electricians." We were again assured that the furnace would be installed before the move to the new lot. Third week of March, delayed again because no title and his father "had other houses he has to move first." We accepted this due to it being a personal sale of his own property and he still did not have the title. Fourth week of March, delayed again because we could not get a hold of Brandon and we still did not have a title. Now we are in the first week of April. Brandon is completely aware that we need to be out of our current house by May 1st, 2010, that we have paid lot rent on the new location, and that the bank is still waiting on the title. The house is delayed yet again due to Brandon stating he is "out of town" and unable to present during the move. Second week of April, still no title, still no house, excuse this time is a "new battery for the moving truck." Third week of April, still no title, still no house, and no contact from Brandon, even though we repeatedly tried. April 23rd was when the title was finally delivered to the bank and the trailor was delivered to the lot with a phone call telling us that he will not level the house, anchor it, or do anything else at this point until we pay him. The bank wanted to do a flood plain survey on the lot before they would release the money and would not do the survey until they had the title, Brandon was aware of this and had verbalized as such. The survey was not completed until April 26th, this was the day Brandon was to start completion work on the house. Instead we waited and waited all day with no answer from Brandon or his father Bob. April 27th after waiting 6 hours for someone to come and start on our house, we finally reached Brandon and was told that he would "hook that f***ing trailor to the truck and pull it out of that lot" because we were exasperated and needed to move. To this day they have not finished work, changed their phone #'s, and we are unable to reach them. Temps for two weeks have reached as low as 35 degrees F at night with no furnace! We are expecting to pay $5000.00 more for a new furnace/central air

This man and his sons were supposed to have a 90 day project. He continually had excuses as to why he could not work on my project. Very rarely showed up when he said he would. Gave continual time lines and excuses. He would leave my job to go work on other jobs and finally after 10 months he abandoned my job for the last time and put a lien on my house because I would not give him any more money until the completion of the project, something he originally agreed to. I have spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours trying to fix his mistakes and have other contractors complete his (in my opinion) shoddy work. He damaged my house by hitting a couple of road signs along the way of the move and he also hit a tree in the town my house was moved to. Also damaged a neichbors driveway when he ran over it with my house, he still has yet to fix this issue and it happened in June of 2008. He was also contracted to do the residing of my home after it moved. The siding was never complete by him, I had to again hire another contractor to finish the work. They had wanted to tear off all the siding and start over because none of it was level and started at different points around the house. I could not afford to do that as it would have cost me an additional $5,000.00. My basement floor that he poured is not level at all, it has humps and dips throughout. He also used a mortar mix in two squares of the basement that will have to be torn out and replaced as they are crumbling. These two squares are from where the cribbing was to support my house before he set the house on the foundation. I could honestly go on and on but it was be so repetitive. One problem after another. I have since found that I am not alone in this happening. I have directed 3 other people to this website to share their stories, I hope they will. We all have had the same things happen and I hope that no one else ever has to go through this with him like I have. In my opinion, this is the worst contractor on the face of the earth. He keeps changing the name of his business, I assume because of the lawsuits. He also puts things in his wife and kids names, again with the same reason I believe. BEWARE!
