My daughter brought her wedding gown to Turitto's for a few simple alterations: to have removable straps sewn on (because our pastor required it), add a bustle so she could cinch the train up after the ceremony, and to remove a bra that had been added to the gown by the prior owner.  This was my daughter's dream wedding gown!  Two days after she tried it on at the bridal salon, and had decided that THIS was the one, she called to order it and found out it had been discontinued.  After much searching, she found the same gown for resale online.  It was a size 4, and was an exact fit in size and length.  All that was needed were the 3 small things listed above.  She dropped her gown off in mid-January and the alterations person, Linda, assured her that the changes would not take a lot of work.  Linda did not write down any notes or my daughter's name, and there were 3 different times that my daughter stopped in on a Friday to check on her gown and was told that there were no gowns with her name on it, and if there was one, it was lost.  That caused 3 panicked weekends when we weren't sure what we were going to do.  When Monday rolled around, they'd call to tell her the dress had been "found", so Linda had probably taken the gown home for the weekend.  My daughter's wedding is in November, 2015, but because Linda had not written down any info, she kept telling my daughter that she'd have the gown ready for her August wedding.  We didn't think anything of that-just assumed that the dress would be done sooner than expected (which would have been for the best, considering all of the times it had been "lost').  Every time my daughter tried her gown on, Linda would comment that she hadn't had time to "take it in yet," and my daughter would answer her by saying that it was a perfect fit and all that was needed was to remove the bra, add a bustle and the removable straps.  At one of the appointments, after being told that the bra still needed to be removed, Linda reached in and yanked it out.
On July 10, my daughter went to pick up her gown and found that it could not be zipped.  Linda tried to tell my daughter that she'd gained a lot of weight, but my daughter has not gained even a pound.  My daughter was in shock as she took her dress, paid Linda $50 so that Linda would allow her to take the dress out of their business, and left.  She immediately took it to a reputable alterations shop, where she was told that there had been a minimum of 2 1/2 inches removed from EACH side seam of her wedding
gown (over 5 inches total).  There are multiple slipped stitches (that show as puffy bumps on the gown), a tear in one underarm area, crooked sewing, and crooked cutting.  The shop said that they could probably add a total of one inch, but that the size 4 was now a size zero.  My youngest daughter took photos of the damaged dress and we will provide them to anyone who wants to see them.
My husband called the manager the same day the dress was picked up, and he said he'd call my daughter.  As we were the ones who paid for the gown this is now our fight.  The manager wasn't professional enough to call my daughter, so he had Linda call, whereupon she left a nasty voicemail on my daughter's cellphone, telling her that "she knew she was happy when she left the store with the dress."  Well...NO bride will ever be happy when her wedding gown has been ruined, especially when she hasn't had a chance to wear it yet.  It is not a successful alteration when the gown cannot be zipped up.  Strapless gowns MUST be zipped up, and Linda is
negligent if she doesn't realize that.  Linda obviously mixed up 2 brides, which is why she only charged my daughter $50.  If Linda had
bothered to take notes, she'd have known what needed to be done.  And, if the gown had needed to be taken in, it would have cost much more than $50 because of the gown's style.
After waiting weeks without hearing from anyone at Turitto's, we sent a letter asking them to pay for the gown (we paid $800 for it, the price on the discontinued new one was $1700) and to repay the $50 that had been paid for the nonexistent bustle and straps.  We mailed a packet, including full-sized pictures of the dress and told the manager we'd email the pics if he wanted to see the digital pics.  We sent it registered mail and received a signed card back that it had been delivered.  That was at the end of August.  It is now the end of September and no one has contracted us, or sent us anything.  We are basically being ignored.  We weren't asking for them to pay for a brand-new gown, just to pay for the one Linda ruined.  (In the letter we sent, we told Turitto's manager that once they'd sent the payment to us, we'd drop the dress off at their store.  We said that since Linda was certain that the dress was still in perfect condition that they'd have no problem in reselling it.  Not surprisingly, no response.
We've had to go out and buy another wedding gown, and this one, while similar, isn't as nice as the first one and my patience is at an
end.  I will be filing a small claims lawsuit soon if they don't contact us.  Apparently, their business practice is to ignore what they've done and to hope it will go away.  Newsflash....I will not be going away, and will post the pics if need be, and when we end up going to court, they are going to lose more than the case.  Whatever shred of a reputation they still have is going to be gone, along with any common decency they had.  The only reason I have not posted the pics already is because I'd like to keep my daughter's wedding gown a mystery until she walks down the aisle, but thanks to Turitto's, their horrible business practices, and their downright crappy alterations person, Linda, we don't have that option.
Linda, operating out of their business establishment, working on their property, and storing customers' clothing onsite, is their agent and employee, and as such, they are absolutely responsible for what she does.  No worries though...when we file it, the lawsuit will list Turitto's and Linda's names, so jointly or separately, they'll be liable and held accountable.
Bottom line?  If you value your clothing, do not take it to this establishment.  When they ruin it, and they almost certainly will, you will be the one who is forced to file a lawsuit.  They aren't a member of the BBB, which I guess is hardly a shocker.
I'd steer clear of this place because 1) their level of service is horrible, as is the quality of their workmanship, and there is no professionalism among the staff or management, and THEY JUST DON'T GIVE A D*** ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
