Female spay went fine, however, vet neglected to read intake notes on taking a stool sample while pet was asleep. They didn't know what I was talking about when they called to let me know she was awake and doing well. Had to take the sample when she was awake - it was positive for bacterial overgrowth.
Male was not mature enough to neuter, however they did not check this (a simple procedure) before they put him under. They gave him all of the anesthetic and pain meds before they checked if his testicles had dropped.
I am disturbed by this lack of thoroughness on both of my pets, and expect a higher quality of care from a veterinarian.

We had a 'substitute vet' this day because our normal vet was out. Our small dog had been having urinating issues and I wanted them to look at her while giving her shots. I have to mention our regular vet was very good and professional but the one this day did not listen to me and thought she new everything. My dog (all 5 pounds of her) was scared and being a little difficult. She asked if we could use a muzzle. I agreed and as I turned around she grabbed the dog and left the room. I was a little confused and thought she would muzzle her and bring her back. With in a few minutes I could hear this horrible shrieking down the hall. I ran out and asked where my dog was and the shrieking continued and I could not find the room they had her in. It sounded as though they were killing her. After 10 minutes of this she finally came back with her shaking and crying. They had expressed her anal glands and took other internal swabs and the dog was swollen and I mean swollen. It took 3 people to hold her down she told me. I was furious. I took the dog and went to pay for her shots ($85 for shots and exam) and the bill was over $200 because of these test they were running without my consent. I questioned them and the vet came out and said this is what I did and this is what you have to pay. She was so rude. All these test she ran came up with nothing and she told me that little dogs tend to pee more when they got older. I had been a loyal customer for 3 years but after finding out you now have to see what ever vet is available and the increase in their prices we do not go back. If you use them make sure you tell them you need to present during the exam and all charges and tests must be pre-approved.

After the simple procedure was complete, I was told my dog had some irregular numbers on his blood test. I was given a and quot;possibleand quot; diagnosis by a Vet Tech and told to read up on the disease on the Internet and to bring him back in two weeks and then I could talk to a Vet. Unfortunately, I listened to them. I bought the expensive dog food they recommended, even tho they were not certain about his condition. I called after one week to say my dog wasn't doing well. I was told to wait and let the food take effect. I called after two weeks to say my dog still isn't doing well, I was told to let the food work and wait another two weeks to bring him in. He didn't get better, he got worse. The place is a revolving door. You see whatever Vet is on duty, not the same one. Vet Techs are limited in what they can tell you. They dropped the ball when it came to caring for my pet and as a result by dog of 13 years is dead. I will never take another pet there and I will tell anyone who listens that if you love your pet, do not take them to Pinehurst Vets. The squeezed every dollar they could out of me before allowing my dog to die from their neglect and incompetence.

They are kind and explained things in a professional manner, offering more than one option when possible. This is very nice. They are a busy place which is a fairly good sign. The only complaint is cost, but I suppose this is simply a case of getting what you pay for, and there are other places that are more expensive in town so it could be worse.

We made an appointment the morning of 6/13/2012 because the night before we noticed one of our Bassets who is not quite three yrs old was not putting any weight on his back right leg. We did get in close to our appointment time and while in the waiting room one of the staff came out to see us because she recognized us from prior appointments. We were given ourtwo basset hounds because their mother was not doing well and could not care for them so the first time we took them to the vet they were only about 2 weeks old because we were bottle feeding them. They have been back many times for checkups and shots. She was surprised to see how good Willy looked even with not using his leg. His brother Duke was not along but she remembered them both well and us. The vet was wonderful when checking Willy and was concerned that he may have a displace hip or that he may have blown out his knee and suggested an xray. They did so and the tech carried him back very caring and friendly. We found out that Willy had very good hips for a Basset and that they did not see anything broke or out of place on the xray so the vet explained that he probably tore a ligament in his knee and that he wanted to put him on an anti inflamatory and pain med and watch him for about a month. If he was not better then we would have to look at possible surgery and with him being so young he would be a good candidate but he could possibly end up with arthritis later on after surgery. He was very caring and helpful and answered our questions and helped keep us alot more calm then I felt. After we waited less than five minutes for them to fill the prescription and the tech was again very friendly and so were the office staff when we paid the bill. It was very quick and efficient and friendly. We have been using This vet clinic for several years with many animals including our beloved Lab mix that at 14 years was not doing well and we needed to put her down and they were very caring and loving towards her and very caring in helping us with this very trying time. They followed up with a phone call a couple of days later and a beautiful card for our loss. This last visit I got a call today 6/15/2012 from one of the vet techs asking how Willy was doing and if we needed anything to give them a call which I really appreciated because I know that if I need to call them they will get a vet tech on the phone right away and they are very helpful. We will be continuing to use this clinic for all our animals now and in the future. They are extremely caring, loving, friendly, helpful, efficient and professional and we appreciate all they do.
