Jack Huft is the owner. His initial estimate was $4300. Then, when he came to talk to my mom and I, he seemed drunk (mismatched shoes, slurring words, complaining about pain). Mom and I were desparate for any kind of roofing repairs as all others were booked through Feb. or estimates exceeded $10K. This guy bid for this job $5300 and we agreed to hire him to apply rubber roofing to the main part of the house and addition (12x21ft). He said he'd be back in a week to start. He didn't show up at that time and wasn't answering any voicemails for 4 days. He called us back, finally and said he'd be here to start the following week. So, now, 19 days after receiving more than half of $5300 ($3000) he sends one guy to start. And he leaves. The guy worked 5hrs total and left. Next day two guys worked for 7 total hrs w/o Jack's help. Third day they finished the trailer. Said he'd be back the following Monday to complete the addition and he needed $500 of what was left. He didn't come until Wed. and he had 4 guys working w/o him there. At the end of this work day he asked for $500 more than the remaining $1800. At the time of the agreement he calculated 6 - 4x8 pieces of OSB board. On this day it took 10 pieces, so 4 extra sheets. $500 he wanted for 4 sheets of OSB board which cost $15 each. We agreed to give him $200 more plus $300 off the remaining amt due. Leaving $1500 left to be paid. He left immediately after getting his money not closing up any gaps. We had -14°F that night. Next day he comes to finish. He argued that he didn't agree to do the addition and wanted another $500 more. Mom wrote him a check for $1500 making the total cost of the job $5500 and 4 checks to get it done.
