Regional Waterproofing was on time and provided me with a report on the crawlspace.
We both crawled under the house to have an on-the-spot evaluation of each item.
Phase 1 consisted of installing additional drain tile (trenching, flexible pipe, gravel) in the area of the springs. This was quite effective even during the rainy fall season in Raleigh. 100% dry, no more mud or odors.
Phase 2 was easier for the crew, since the area was dry. Encapsulation was done very well, sealed up nicely.

I obtained 4 quotes with Regional the most polished, receiving the highest ratings on this board, and being advertised / recommended by Dave Ramsey - and the most expensive by far. The presentation of the quote was extensive and clearly a lot of money has been put into the presentations (Regional may be connected with Basement Systems in some way as the material refers to them). The literature is glossy and the photos/videos inspire confidence. The material advertised appears to be proprietary and you are left to believe that these materials are specifically designed for the job after years of experience and therefore cost more. I found very similar products on the web at very reasonable prices so I suspect there is some margin stacking but that is to be expected.
The quote I received was a form and did not accommodate special instructions in the main body. Notes are placed on page two at the bottom. I recommend you ensure everything you want / discuss / agree to verbally is in this section and assume nothing is understood even if you have emails – the quote rules (sort of). I sent several emails trying to confirm exactly what was to be covered. In the end it did not matter. I recommend being very careful about what you sign – do not think “well, we discussed this and they said they would take care of it … put it in the contract.
The project was scheduled in January for an early March install based on backlog - but I got a call asking to do the install in early February because "they were caught up". That wouldn't work for our schedule so it was a no go but sounded crazy to me anyway - how could they clear their backlog that fast - or did a customer cancel or complete early and they wanted to shoe me in? Does it matter? At the time I thought no, however, upon reflection it along with the quote process were warning flags. As the install date approached we were getting ice and lots of rain so I requested a delay for the weather to clear and they were accommodating. The crew arrived on Monday March 10th around 0930. They were very polite and began work straight away. I believe in the adage - you get what you inspect not what you expect - so I kept an eye on their progress. I noticed they brought a stack of 10' perforated PVC (which sells at the big box stores for about $7.50 each). I asked what that was for because I was quoted the Basement Systems trademarked SmartPipe that was presented during the quote and in the literature as being far superior to perforated PVC. I questioned the foreman who said I had to call my salesman who told me "after speaking with the production manager the PVC is actually better and is not going to cost extra". Really? Then why was that not presented in the quote as the best option? In fact - it was never presented as an option at all. I am convinced that had I not been there it would have been installed and hidden under the plastic. I offered to accept the PVC for a deduction on the quote but after speaking "with the owner" my salesman said they would provide what was ordered. Work was halted as they had to order the material for arrival Wednesday the 12th. That evening I looked over the work performed and found they had installed the new door. It was a slab of 1/2" PVC sheet material with some molding that had been attached to the old existing rotted jambs. I could not believe a professional company would do that. Removing the old rotted wood and installing new pressure treated wood would take no more than 30 minutes and the material might cost $10. After further inspection I found a saw cut in top middle of the door about 2.5" long filled with caulk to hide it. I called my salesman who explained that they only quoted the door and not replacing the rotted jambs. Wow! He had nothing to say about the cut they tried to hide. Because the crawlspace was very muddy the workers left some dried mud on the driveway so I went out to sweep it up before it got tracked into the house. That is when I noticed mud and scratches on the corner molding of my house. Clearly they had hit it with something. Not that big a deal but still noticeable. So - another email and call ...
On Wednesday afternoon the crew returned with the proper pipe and set to work. I met with the installation foreman at 5 and we discussed the door - he also said it was not their responsibility but he wanted me to be happy so they would correct. Good - but what a hassle to get something done right the second time. He had no comment on the cut they tried to hide. We discussed the damage to the house and he told me they cleaned it up for me but in no way did they hit it. The crew returned Thursday around 0930 and got straight to work. They were done at 3 and called me (and spoke to my wife) saying they were through – job complete – and wanted me to inspect. That evening I thoroughly inspected the work. The door was fixed properly, the crawlspace was drained, matted, lined, sump installed, and all was cleaned. Very Nice. The sump line was lacking an Ice-Guard system and the joists had not been cleaned with Mold-X as specified. Also, there was still no resolution on the damaged siding. Another email and call to my salesman. He disputed the Ice Guard requirement as not being on the formal quote and after review – he is correct. However, I also have 3 separate emails each calling for the Ice-Guard system. Clearly, I expected it but I relented. As for the cleaning with the Mold-X I was now told they really weren’t through but that we needed to be out of the house for three hours because of fumes. News to me but okay – I agreed to vacate but needed to plan so this would need to be done the 17th or 18th. And, I still wanted resolution on my damaged siding.
Friday morning (14th) I received a call from my salesman who said he had reviewed the job with “the owner” who stated our project was complete and he was to collect. I complained about everything again and said I wanted the Mold-X treatment and my siding fixed. No, he told me that the Mold-X was a complimentary service provided by Regional and while they were going to do it in the spirit of customer care – they were not obligated to (even though it was on the quote). He also told me that he “measured” the damage and in his professional opinion “they” did not do it and were not responsible. I’m not sure how his professional position as crawl space repair salesman qualifies him to make a professional judgment on siding damage – but that is beside the point. The conversation became rather heated and I am embarrassed for losing my temper and being unprofessional. Everyone at Regional maintained a very polite decorum throughout – regardless of the tension. Regardless of how polite they were they did not resolve the open issues. I was told I needed to pay immediately or a lien would be placed on my house. Wow - again. So, on a $5600 project they would rather threaten a customer than fix the siding and take care of the Mold-X.
In the heat of the moment I was going to contact my attorney and short pay the invoice in the amount needed to pay someone to complete the job and repair the damaged siding. Instead I opted to pay the bill and be done with Regional. It is not worth the aggravation.
In summary – I’m not certain if I would recommend Regional or not. Parts of the job were well done, communication was prompt and polite. However, there was, at the least, a pattern of confusion that at times felt like deception. Once we have a considerable amount of rain I will update this review for the efficacy of the system
"[removed member name] received everything we contracted for, plus additional items, at no cost to him. We thank, [removed member name] for being a customer. We very much appreciate his trust. After we completed the entire project, he voluntarily said the following, “I am 95% happy with Regional Waterproofing,” that bears repeating. After all work was completed and he had personally inspected the entire job, in our opinion, with a magnifying glass, [removed member name] stated, “He was 95% happy with Regional Waterproofing.” That’s amazing, a 95% approval rating!! That means the overall Angie’s List rating according to what [removed member name] said on the phone after all work was completed should read as follows: Overall: A Price: A Quality: A Responsiveness: A Punctuality: A Professionalism: A We did not ask him if he would hire us again, but with a 95% approval we assume he would. The mark on his siding he alluded to was already there before we arrived. The mark is approximately 12inches higher than the wheel well on our trailer that he claims caused the damage; [removed member name] had no answer for this. [removed member name] alleged that we caused the damage and we arranged to meet [removed member name] at his home to review, he never showed up. We made other attempts to meet [removed member name] at his home to address any concerns and to collect payment on the completed work, but he was not sure when he would be available. All work was completed with the specified materials, with the time frame promised, at the agreed to price. The work is warranted as outlined in the contract. [removed member name] is someone who likes to be in full control of all matters, in our opinion, and that’s why we have a contract to ensure both parties honor the agreement. There is much more we can add to this post, we will do so as needed, if needed. Team Regional 1-800-536-6260"
"We thank Ms. [member name removed] for her review. We represent what we do, do what we say, and we are going to do it at the agreed to price and offer great service. That’s why we have over 110,000 customers and 30 years of service!!"
Initial contact with office, on site visit with technical representative were all positive. Work to be done was clearly and professional explained were a "layman" could/can easily understand.
In short, very pleased from initial contact to completion of job with all of Regional Waterproofing personnel!
I plan to use Regional Waterproofing on additional properties in the future.
"Thank you for your review, thank you for your business, and thank you for the trust you place in our company!! You have helped us succeed over 30 years and serve over 110,000 local customer!"
I had sold my house and he quickly responded to the crawlspace issues with a solution to satisfy both me and the new home owner.
The crawlspace is clean and dry and without issue!
I highly recommend their services.

The day of installation, I was called at 8:30 AM by the salesperson, and told the installation would not happen in all likelihood due to a glitch the day before in the location scheduled for the day before me. I work part-time and scheduled this installation for a day when I was going to be home, and now the date was changing to a date when I had to work! I was not happy... but asked if I had to be home for the next day- specifically for electrical work associated with the dehumidifier instalation. I was told that IF the electrician need to get into my house or garage, he "could come back at my convenience."..... wrong-o!
I went to work the next day, the men came after I left the house, and then I got a call around 9:30AM that the electrician HAD to get into my garage....NOW. Well, I could not leave work, and the poor man had to wait for me to get home at 1PM. He was sittting in the sun waiting for me- not happy since "this was the second experience like this that week" he said....blaming it on the sales person. he did a great and fast job, and I expressed my displeasure with this experience to the team leader. I became distrustful of the company doing a competant job under my house where I could not see more than the waterproofed materials (and frankly was too terrified to go under the house to see beyond the doorway)...so the local area manager arrived to aliveate my fears (James). He assured me all was done well and exceptionally to code. What I did not realize at that time was "where was the outlet for the moisture that was being taken from our foundation space"....so I looked everywhere around the exterior of the house, especially where the salesperson told me the outlet would be...it was not there or anywhere I could see. A call the next day to Regional (Tim) took a few calls back and forth to get the info I needed- and then was told the drain in under the house into an existing drain! I cannot see it without going all the way under the house....!
This was not the experience I thought it would be. I thought I asked ALL the right questions, and then some things beyond that took place to make this less than fabulous. Hopefully the actual drain and dehumidifier will work as promised....we will see the next time the moisture level is checked....
"[Member names removed] are very fine people, and we are grateful for the confidence that they placed in our company. That confidence has and will continue to be honored. [member name removed] is correct; we are experts in Crawlspace Repair. On our initial visit and inspection of her home, there was a high humidity and moisture level found in the crawlspace, along with other problems. When our Crawlspace system was installed, (which comes with a 25 year warranty!!) the moisture and humidity levels went down to a level that improved the environment by 80%, and that is a very good thing for [member name removed], her family, and home. Our work started within 24 hours of the original date [member name removed] was given and the work was completed within the time frame that was given, and all the work was completed at the agreed to price. The completed work was successful in significantly reducing moisture and humidity levels in the crawlspace, which is exactly why [member names removed] chose our company to begin with, and that’s why over 110,000 other customers have chosen Regional the last 31 years!! [Member names removed] can request any inspection from our Company at any time to address any concerns. The electrician did not wait for [member name removed] from 9:30am until 1:00pm, as she claims. He arrived at approximately 11:00am, and proceeded to complete his work in the crawlspace which took a period of time. The time difference from when he finished in the crawlspace, and when [member name removed] arrived home was less than 20min, and he waited in his service truck, applying for building permits with the A/C running. [member name removed] claims regarding our electrician are inaccurate. When the job was being installed and completed we invited [member name removed] in the crawlspace to review the scope of the work so that she could see for herself that we had completed all the contracted scope of work and explained the new crawlspace system to her and to address any issue of concern she may have before she paid us. How can you be more transparent, forthright, and trustworthy than that? Despite our request, [member name removed] declined to review the job with us for reason of her own. Additionally, [member name removed] already had a functioning positive drain in her crawlspace, so there was no need to sell her a sump pump or another drain and increase the cost of the project for no reason. This was pointed out to her on the initial visit; most customers value that level of integrity. We have maximum respect for our clients time, and we apologize to [member name removed] for the delay. Regional did not request [member name removed] to take time off from work, neither did she inform us that she planned to do so, nevertheless, our work was completed within the allotted time that we said and agreed to. Most of our clients, do not take time off of work when we are installing our crawlspace system, they will leave the garage door unlocked too so that we may access the panel box. [member name removed] did so for reason of her own. Finally, the City of Raleigh inspected our completed work and has approved the closed crawlspace as meeting or exceeding N.C. Building Codes. We value [member name removed] as customers so much that the consultant personally inspected the completed project to ensure that they got everything that we contracted to do, and to ensure the system is working as designed."

Von Bullock came out and showed us several options for space encapsulation. Von had a great presentation to explain everything they can do. There were a lot of options to discuss and think about. We chose a mid-level priced option. There was no pressure or push to go with a more expensive alternative. In fact, Von showed us some other higher priced choices, but suggested we
didn't need to get those kinds of materials for our house.
They removed all of the old insulation and vapor barrier material. They then installed 20 mm clean space material over the ground and up the base of the walls. They installed silver light rigid insulation up the walls, sealed the vents, leaving the required gap for termite inspection. They installed a dehumidifier to maintain the low humidity in the sealed crawl space, which required new electrical wiring. Regional Waterproofing took care of all the permitting. The inspector from my town came out a few weeks after the work was completed and everything looked great to him.
The work team was first-rate. They came in the morning, around 10, got right to work and finished the whole job by 5:00 pm. I was concerned because it had been drizzling for most of the morning, but it didn't seem to slow them down. I was given a tour under the house and they showed me everything that was worked on.
The job was finished to my complete satisfaction. Now it's clean, bright and dry under my house. Thanks Von and the Regional Waterproofing team.
