The synthetic stucco chimney was 20 years old and had been repaired three times to patch over nesting holes made by small birds.  I needed find a more permanent solution or replace the chimney with something that would be less attractive. The chimney was an average of 12 feet high and located in the middle of the roof with a steep pitch, so it was not an easy job.  I had four estimates, and Macias was the only one who recommended having the flashing replaced before he repaired the stucco so the roofer would not damage the stucco when a new roof was put on.  I talked to a roofer and he agreed this was the best approach.
Macias removed a band of stucco from around the base of the chimney and the roofer put in the new flashing and covered the area to avoid rain water penetration.  Macias returned and repaired the base of the chimney above the flashing and the bird holes.  He then applied two coats of a mesh reinforced acrylic/cement adhesive base coat finished with a weather resistant acrylic coating.  The finished job looked like a brand new chimney with no patches or seams visible.  Cost of the repair was substantially less than the cost of replacing the chimney with something less attractive.
