The Deck Hands

Poorly. This company was unwilling to complete the project in the time period he indicated prior to starting, even given additional time due to weather (work commenced early September & was still only ~60% complete at Thanksgiving) He was unwilling to communicate a completion schedule when requested numerous times He was unwilling to communicate with me via phone call, email, etc. There were also construction deficiencies (quality of work) that were not remedied (including anchoring of building, substandard slab & foundation, etc.). The slab he poured looked more like a 'rough ocean' rather than a smooth surface. He communicated that he would have his concrete contractors do the concrete work, but him and his employee attempted it on their own. He did communicate numerous unwarranted stop work threats Payment schedule was set as 33% at start, 33% after slab completion (which was paid despite poor slab quality) and balance due at completion. Prior to completion (framing was 85% complete, building was wrapped with plastic, roof was 75% complete), the contractor requested an additional amount due to family health care costs and duration of project. I generously paid ahead of the contracted amount (due to compassion for the contractor's family health issues) & two days later, the contractor threatened a stop work & then vacated the jobsite with building not complete. This was a very frustrating experience & I do not recommend this contractor.

The work was done in a very timely fashion and went exactly as I wanted.  I did have an issue with deck light placement  and called for a service call after the work was completed.  He came ourt the very next morning and addressed the issue to my total satisfaction.  I will call on Deck Hands in the future with further projects.
