Inferior improper work by someone who is not licensed or insured, and did not pull permits as required. She lied about this.

Hired Ms. Bonn (All Girl Flooring) on 9/6/12 and she was recommended by my sister and a friend to lay some laminate, put some granite down, and re-do deck with composite. Her estimate was $5476, yet I have cancelled checks for $6899.25. I asked if she was insured, and licensed, and if we need to pull permits. She lied about all three questions. After all the problems of her workmanship and the cost of fixing her mess from 4-7K from licensed contractors would be the cost. She owns a flooring company and NC law requires a flooring license also which she does not have, and as per Bulletin 1997

V28-2 you must pull a permit especially if decks are load bearing structures, and decks have their own permits that are needed.

She has no licenses. She said she worked with composite prior, but how wrong that was, as she lied again. Lowes and Home depot have video that shows special composite screws. She put nails in mine then tried to remove and put putty caulking in the holes, which has ruined the composite I bought. All her workmanship is problematic. The composite was done incorrectly, and boards are popping up all over, the caulking she put in are like spots on the composite, and then she put clear caulking to try and hold boards done, but glue is not clear and all over. I have many pictures verifying this, A consultant attorney said I can file small claims, and a criminal theft complaint with the police as since there are no licensees. Ms. Bonn has been back timed 3, and has made it worse. I now do not want her un-licensed services. I offered to settle just on the composite (and not ask for damages on floor or granite with pictures also)for $3500, but she refused. Her contract form also says workmanship guaranteed x 2 years and work was complete 10/1/12 less than 2 years and she has been out 3 times already. After all of this I went online and saw all the complaints from workmanship to theft, and then saw all of the complaints you had on her for the same thing. I would like her to settle, but if not I am filing with small claims, filing the criminal theft charge as unlicensed, reporting her to all licensure, report her to zoning and permit boards, and put all pictures on the internet. I am not suing for granite or laminate which I also have a case. She said she would come back and fix the granite, but I can not have her near my house. I am on social security and I barely could afford this, and now it looks like a hot mess!!!!

What a joyful experience. Dottie not only does beautiful installation work but she has the artistic ability to look at the space and create the most attractive and artistic pattern for the space. She was patient, exacting in her work, mindful of my time and space and tolerant when small children got underfoot. Her assistant was hard working and very respectful. They cleaned up when they were done and the kitchen looked great. I also want to say that Dottie was extremely flexible in working around my other installers. There were several delays and she never gave me a hard time. She was patient and encouraging that the project would get done. I'm already planning the bathroom renovation with Dottie at the top of my list.
Response from A Girls Flooring Company
"Thank you! It was an honor to install your back splash. It is important to me that I understand and support my customers, you had no control over that situation and I know how challenging those times can be. I also know it always works itself out for the best. When I walked in your home as I do so many others I get inspired. I see your decor and your style, then I see how the tile layout can stand out and best express who you are. This is who I am, I love my job. I really enjoyed the little girl that was so into everything I was doing. I strive to be a good role model and to encourage girls to do whats in their heart. I want again thank you. The cook out was awesome and your hospitality was grand. I appreciate customers like you. I look forward to working with you on your next project. Dottie"
