Lumina Hall

We booked on a Friday to save money. The venue is small and intimate which is what I wanted. The night as a whole was wonderful and I will write great reviews for everyone (MOI, coastal cupcakes, active dj entertainment, sweet water bamboo, a thousand words photography) involved except Lumina Hall itself. From the beginning Pam Jenkins (the manager) was not fun to work with. It took a long time for her to return phone calls and emails. More than a couple times, weeks passed before I finally had to try to contact her again before she would respond. When I tried to go look at the venue again to decide on decorations, she initially made it very difficult for me. It was only after I reminded her that it was my wedding day (one of the most important days of my life) that she started to be more accommodating. I am far from a bridezilla but its odd to me that someone that works with brides everyday wouldn't want to do everything in their power to make sure they have a great experience. All in all she just made things more difficult. But it wasn't until what happened next that I decided to call her out on it. After asking Pam verbally and in email (to double check) what time L&L could pick up the rental items on Saturday ..I let L&L know to pick up before 10am and my family and I had planned to return the next day to retrieve the items we had brought. TWO days before my wedding, Pam informed me that L&L needed to pick up on Friday night and it would cost me an additional $80. I also had to make arrangements for clean up that night which was very inconvenient and stressful. What happened next made my experience with Pam even worse. My husband is from Australia and we literally had people flying in from the other side of the world. Pam had emailed me a diagram of the set up and I gave my approval. When I arrived at my wedding reception I was informed that an entire table had not been set up. An entire table of guest from the other side of the world did not have a place to sit and eat. I was so embarrassed. MOI came to the rescue and set up a table later in the night. Lumina hall was beautiful and everyone had a great time.. But if you are working with Pam, good luck

Overall the wedding/reception went well. The pricing is fabulous if you reserve on a Sunday rather than Friday or Sat., less than 1/3. The hall is nicely decorated, has a separate room for buffet and bar. The tables/chairs are nice and they also supply linens but they did suggest us using one of their vendors. There is a dressing room in the back of the hall for a bridal party to dress. The day of the wedding/reception the rain was pouring down and there was no mat inside door but once I made a suggestion to the owners, I was told that a mat would be purchased for future use. The inside decor is black and white and would work with any other colors you want to add. There is a nice size dance floor as well. We were very pleased with Lumina Hall and had numerous comments on how nice everything looked. I would recommend this wedding/reception hall to anyone. We had the hall from 9am Sunday morning until 6am the following morning which gives you plenty of time to decorate and afterward, remove all your personal belongs.
