The first thing they did was aerate and overseed the entire front and back due to a miscommunication (keeping in mind that the back was going to be rototilled and reseeded 2 days later), and charged me for the whole job. The initial seeding came in fairly well with some minor bare patches; was told i should wait until the fall to fill them since they needed to be able to move on to putting down pre-emergent weed killers. As summer rolled in, large patches of the grass started to turn brown and die - I assumed it was underwatering and watered more, no one from yards by us mentioned it during their regular treatment until I finally called and asked if I they could look at it; I was told it was brown patch and needed a $170 fungicide treatment, which didn't help because it was so far gone already. By late July 80% of the backyard was dead. (what I'm now told by several other companies is that we should have waited for the fall to do a full seed like that to give the grass a good chance of getting established before the summer heat).
In the fall we had the bermuda in the front killed off, and a second full aerate/overseed. It came in relatively well in the back, but several large patches in the front were completely missed where the bermuda was killed off; again they had some reason for not coming back and doing a touchup on those areas.
This spring, the grass came back in beautifully with the exception of small amounts of moss in the back starting to make a comeback. By early June we had a significant amount of moss as well as what looked like brown patch starting to come back in. I had another consultation and was told to reduce the moss I needed another $300 in treatments/aeration but that wasn't a guarantee, no mention was made of doing a soil sample to assess the certain cause of the moss, and again $170 to apply fungicide (which I had to suggest, not yards by us). It's now August, 18 months and $4,300 later, and the backyard may actually look worse than when we started. My front yard looks fairly good with the exception of the large patches they missed with the seed (it looked pretty good when we started, though). About 50% of my backyard grass survived the summer, and the moss which was originally affecting about a third of the lawn, is now present over most of the yard.
For a company that has prices that are on the higher end of the estimates we received, we've been extremely disappointed with both the results and the service from yards by us.
