VanDavis Aveda Lifestyle Salon & Day Spa

I went to Van Davis Aveda from 2011-2013 for haircuts and color, with two different stylists. My first stylist moved out of town so I switched to another one, and then my second stylist moved to a new salon so I followed her there. I was always very happy with Van Davis Aveda, it is a nice salon with friendly staff and they sent me email reminders (that I could also confirm online) before all my appointments which I appreciated. They also offered evening appointment hours certain days of the week which was helpful to me because of my schedule, and which is unfortunately not an option at my current salon.
The only reason I gave them a lower grade on professionalism was because when my current stylist moved to another salon in town, rather than calling me to let me know and asking me if I'd like to switch my next appointment to another Van Davis Aveda stylist, I received a strange letter in the mail informing me that she'd left the salon and offering me a discount on my next appointment if I chose to stay at Van Davis Aveda. I remember thinking the tone of the letter was less than professional, as if they were personally mad at the stylist for moving to a new salon. I think a more professional approach would have been to treat it in a business-like manner (ie it is business, not personal--I'm sure this happens frequently in the salon business) and to call the stylist's clients personally rather than sending those letters.
But other than this one instance, I had very pleasant experiences as a client at Van Davis Aveda.

I'm originally from Chicago. My stylist back home is fantastic. She's constantly attending classes and seminars to stay up to date on the cutting edge of hairstyles, cuts, and care. She's a master stylist and instructs other stylists in her salon. I'm used to trying out interesting and original styles, and she always come through for me. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous to find a new stylist in a new location. I'm currently growing out a pixie cut and had a bit of a mullet. Fielding put me at ease, listened to what I had in mind, and worked with me to make the growing out process much less painful. And the neck massage rocked! In Chicago, I'm used to paying at least $100 for a haircut. At $55, I'd say this was a steal. I'll be visiting Fielding again.

I had a great consultation with my stylist who listened to my concerns and wishes, and demonstrated what I wanted for clarity. The shampooing process was very relaxing. She was thorough with my cut and described products she used, why she chose them, and how they would help with my hair concerns. I was very very happy with the cut and style. The front desk staff was also very helpful in clarifying what products would be good for my hair and style and how to use them effectively, however, they were not pushy about it at all. I will certainly be returning.

I've been with them for over a year now. What I like about them is that it's a company so girls don't work for their chair. They go to different shops or they let their personalized too much involved; they're their own boss. These are very economical and they've incredibly professional; the whole place and I absolutely love it. They constantly clean and they even have a cleaning crew.

Everyone I have worked with has been wonderful and the epitome of professionalism, from the front desk to all the stylist and technicians. You are treated with respect and pampered from the beginning. I was offered a beverage and chose the cucumber infused water. All of the services I have received have been exceptional. And with the text message service they have for reminders I have not worried about missing an appointment. I hope to continue to use them far into the future.

They were all around great which includes their punctuality, service, and professionalism. I will go back to them and will send my kid and my husband there.

I especially like my stylist, Allison. They are friendly to their customers when you walk in, they offer you tea or water. I've only had to wait once and that was okay, it was about 10 minutes. They have areas divided off that are real comfortable and nice. That was a good thing. The price depends on the person, the price might be more but you'll get a better hair cut. I'd say it's a good price for people looking for a good salon that's not just a chain. They call you before your appointment so you don't forget.
