First day, they were great. Plenty of elbow grease, very polite. They were very careful about scraping and caulking, but it was all downhill from there. The "wash house" wasn't what I was expecting. There was no washing, only a squirting of a very strong bleach solution, which left ugly streaks on all of the glass. They basically stopped scraping, and were painting over very rough spots, making the wood look very scaly. I called Vicki about it, and she said she would check on them, but nothing changed. They painted every window shut and then when I complained, they jammed their 3in1 tool into the wood, opening the windows, but gouging and denting the wood. They started to miss spots, and when I showed them where they needed to put some more paint, they became very surly, one of them actually cursed me and then stomped off, sitting in his van, chain smoking. Vicki finally showed up, but she didn't have anything to say about her painter's bad behavior. She left the not so surly one behind to finish up, I had to spend more than an hour going over the house, pointing out places they missed, or places that needed a second coat, because the supposed general contractor wouldn't. A few days later, I found more places that haven't gotten any paint, and she sent the not too surly one back, who by this time had gotten more surly. Again, had to spend more time, pointing out the places. She said that she had been over the house three times, and that she didn't see anything wrong. She didn't have any argument when I pointed out the sloppy/unpainted places. So, when I was finally satisfied that the job was at least finished (by no means was I happy) and wrote her the check, she actually cashed it instead of depositing it like a normal person. I know because my bank called me. So basically, I had to pay her to do the contractor's job, had to deal with remarkably unpleasant painters, who cussed, smoked and did shoddy work.
