She was very professional and detail oriented. She truly cared about problem solving for our pets. She would weigh out the pros and cons. We had to have a few pets put down and we felt completely comfortable and trusted her in those instances. She just had a great way with animals. Their prices are a little high though.

I have entrusted my pets to this Veterinary Hospital since 1978. Dr Robinson is now retired but the team there now is fantastic.
My current cat is one which they rescued and I later adopted. I have nothing negative to share, they are very compassionate and caring people. I feel fortunate to have a Vet that I can trust. Of the current Vets there, I have the most experience with Dr. Gates and Dr. Sparks. They have dealt with my dogs and cats in health, and in passing, and are two of the most caring professionals that one could hope to deal with.
I recommend this Veterinary practice with no reservations.

Our cat, Sylvester, was seen by Dr. McCourt since our arrival to the area in April 2011 until December 2012 for routine care as well as treatment for chronic issues. Over the course of the year and 8 months she was his doctor, she provided the high quality care that balanced our desire for his quality of life and costs associated with his condition. She ALWAYS makes a point to provide options with consideration to the best interest of the patients welfare and and quot;parentsand quot; check book. On December 8th, 2012, she was there for his last day. His condition finally became such that it was in his best interest to end the suffering and allow him some dignity. She displayed care, concern and compassion as she provided input to assit me in making the decision. Further more, once I had made the decision, she was kind enough to affirm that decision, which eased some of the pain at losing a companion of over 15 years. We also take our dogs to Oldtown and they receive wonderful care and attention as well. I only wish they were closer to our home! Always well worth the cost when you get that level quality service, flexibility and compassionate care.

We're military and are used to dealing with the military base vets, but there's not one close to us. Their price was astronomical to us compared to what we're used to paying, but maybe that's just the going rate and we've been out of the country too long to know. They were fine, but they did some weird clerical mistakes and gave him the wrong dose for heartworm and I actually had to drive the next day to go back and change it out. The techs were really good and so was the physician. They also called me with the results the next day just like they said they would.
Response from Oldtown Veterinary Hospital
"Oldtown Veterinary Hospital strives for excellence in all aspects of our practice. In response to your feedback we have changed our dispensing procedures to prevent this from happening again. We apologize for our mistake and any inconvenience we caused, and will refund you the cost of the heartworm medication. The health and welfare of our patients is extremely important to us and we hope you will continue to trust Oldtown Veterinary Hospital with your pet’s care."

I initially brought my cat in to Old Town Vet after he had been struck by a car. They have you wait in the room while they take your pet to the back to check on them. I was astonished by the level of care they took with my cat and their level of concern about him and me. The doctor spent quite a bit of time with me, well over thirty minutes, making sure that I knew exactly what to do and look for in the coming days to ensure my cat's health and well-being.
I was so impressed by their care that I brought in my dogs. Same thing. I saw almost every single vet that works here and every one of them took a lot of time to talk with me about any concerns I had. And they loved on my pets! I really feel they go out of their way to make their clients feel respected and to show how much they care about the animals. And they are very reasonably priced!
I am getting ready to move out of state, and I am just sorry that I only discovered this vet within the last six months of my time in Winston. I hope I am lucky enough to find a practice of this caliber in my new city.

We recently moved to Winston Salem, knowing our dog needed knee surgery. I checked out 2 places. When I first went to Oldtown I was shown around their facility. It is very nice, clean and well suited for general care, surgery and boarding. Dr. Gates was very professional. She explained our options and costs, as well as the details of the surgery and recovery. The surgery went very well, as did the therapy which she also explained to me in detail.
The only reason I did not give them A's across the board is because there were 2 times when I had to wait several hours for a return phone call. Once on the phone all of my questions were quickly answered.
Oldtown is the place we will now go for general care and probably boarding, too.

My dogs seemed to do well, they ate well and did not appear out of sorts after there visit. My dogs have only been boarded a handful of times in the 5 years I have owned them, and this place does a good job. They staff seems happy to answer questions about your animals if you call to check on them.

They are little bit on the expensive side. However, we are very pleased with their service. The last time we were there was about two weeks ago. One of my dogs had to have hernia surgery. They are convent, and do a great job treating my pets. They know my dogs by name, and send us reminders for visits. It's like they are treating my child, not just an animal.

All this fun happened near the end of the week so of course we had to squeeze in on a Saturday - NO PROBLEM.
Molly need sedation and shaving - again no problem.
Doctor had to stay late on a Saturday to make sure she was okay to go home - SO NOT A PROBLEM.

They rates were extremely reasonable considering the crap they had to do... repeatedly.
The doctor called several times to check on Dufus - Doctors do that? Personally? WOW

These are our vets for life. We will go no where else again.

They gave us a tour of the facility, discussed the most common issues with the specific breed, and didn't pressure us into any ideas we weren't ready for.

They were quick to respond, very professional, the doctor called on the phone and talked me through exactly what would be needed post-op and so forth. The stitches all healed up nicely. They were all terrific to work with.

We also have used them for boarding and our dog loves them. They are very affectionate with her and she is eager to get out of the car when she sees where she is. She's a pit bull (and sweet as can be) and that scares some people but these folks just throw open their arms and love on her which she adores.
