Our roof was installed and garage doors were replaced, but everything else was a disaster. Our front porch was torn off immediately but no work started to build a new one for over a month so we weren't able to use our front door because we had no steps. Our siding was then torn off and as soon as their was a hiccup, the builder walked off the job and stopped returning phone calls. 60 days later, we now have only a framed porch but still no steps and no siding on the house.
Description of Work: We hired MAC Builders to replace our roof, install new siding, build a new front porch and replace our garage doors.

I am not sure why I am getting this complaint. We had an unforeseen circumstance with the siding. I was contracted to install the hardi plank siding. We exposed the fireplace while we roofed the house. It has solid wood behind it. I pre-bought all the hardi siding for this job which I cannot return since it was a special order. I told the customer I didn't want to proceed with the siding until the windows were replaced which they contracted through Window World. During that time we installed new garage doors, removed fire logs, installed rear patio door, installed 75% of front porch, and replaced entire roof. She became frustrated because nothing was getting done so I sent my crew to remove the vinyl siding. Come to find out there was foam fan fold and cedar lap siding under the vinyl siding. After looking further we discovered that behind the second layer of siding, there was only foam. I made her aware that I cannot install hardi siding without a solid sheathing (manufacturer specs) and job would require an additional 5K to install sheathing on entire house. She became livid and blamed it all on me. This was clearly an unforeseen circumstance. I told her I could save her a ton of money and found her a vinyl contractor who could install board and batten vinyl. I also mentioned stucco application but pricing was too high. They are now working directly with the vinyl installer. I am stuck with $4000 worth of hardi siding material and I have completed 75% of the front covered porch. If this customer is asking me for a refund I assume she is rating the front covered porch work as nothing. I told her that I could work off the siding deposit of $3256 on the front porch. Price for front porch is $3,800.
