By far - and without exception the worst experience I've ever had with a company in the history of my family. Tom Chambers (the owner) lures his customers in with assurances that the project will run smoothly, and on time, as he is taking your money and getting his contracts signed. Once the paperwork is signed - the nightmare began. The project took 2-3 times longer than expected. Tom never managed his sub-contractors (they are all sub-contractors - he doesn't have a crew internally as we found out afterwards). Everything they installed, short of the water in the pool - has cracked, torn, was damaged by his crew, or is broken now. His service is non-existent. He hires seasonal minimum wage workers, who come unannounced and leave without telling you they were there to check their work - which was never done correctly. We saved for years to have a pool. It was supposed to be something that would help us relax and come together as a family. Instead - it has been the single largest source of stress in our recent memories. I regret the day I ever met Tom of Holiday Pools and Spa, and the dreams he essentially stole from my wife and my family. Do not, under any circumstances - despite any review you find online (which is probably faked, or written with Tom cared) give this many a dollar of your money.

My biggest issue was that I have a salt cell and when it works, the water is clear and needs very little in the way of chemicals.  When it did not work, instead of trying to troubleshoot and fix it in a timely manner, they continued dumping chlorine in the pool to maintain the proper balance.  The end result was that I had to replace the salt cell and the entire mother board of the computer due to the build up of chemicals and the fact that the salt cell was never properly cleaned.  I tried to give them time to resolve the issue over a month or two, and finally discontinued service. The reason I continued working with them for so long is that they are a Haywood dealer and all of my equipment is Haywood.

The first couple of times I utilized Holiday's services I was relatively pleased; response times and repairs were adequate and reasonably priced.  Most recently, however, I called Holiday in the middle of May, 2013, requesting they come out to look at our broken pool heater.  I believe they showed up sometime within a week, but am not sure as they did not call me to confirm.  I finally received a call on May 23, during which I was told that they needed to replace a circuit board, and asked my approval to order the approximately $300 part.  I authorized the order.  Apparently, they removed the existing circuit board when they checked the heater (causing the chlorinator to no longer work).  Over the next few weeks, both me and my husband made calls to Holiday inquiring as to the status of the repair (assuming turnaround time should be no more than a week to receive and replace the part).  Once we were told that they were way behind, other times, we left a message asking for a return call, which we did not receive.  Finally, I reached someone on June 20 (now, a month past the original service call).  I was told someone else would have to call me back.  My call was returned later that day and I was informed that they'd "have to look into it - that the part may have gotten overlooked in the shuffle."  I asked that they please call me back as soon as they could determine what happened and advise when the repair could be finished.  Five days later, I had not heard back from Holiday, so I called yet again on June 25, asking for an update on my heater repair.  During this call, I was told I could expect the repair to be made this Thursday or Friday (June 27 or 28).  As of this writing, it is June 25.  It remains to be seen if the repair will be made by the now anticipated date.
Regardless, I believe a month and a half is a ridiculous amount of time to pass for the nature of the repair.  I am even more upset by the lack of responsiveness to my requests for status updates, and Holiday's apparent disregard for customer service in general.  I has been one month since the part was ordered, and in that time Holiday has not reached out to me once to advise as to the delay or when I could expect the replacement to be installed.  Not only have we been without a pool (or spa) heater, but we have also incurred extra maintenance and cost trying to keep the pool chlorinated since the chlorinator has not been working (we have a saltwater pool) since Holiday removed the circuit board over a month ago.  Needless to say, I will not be utilizing Holiday's services again in the future.
Response from Holiday Pools & Spa
"I am sorry that this particular repair has had such a long lead time. Although we bid on the construction of this pool, we were not the builder of this particular pool, and the equipment that is on it is a bit unusual and hard to obtain parts for. The heater has a circuit board that has gone bad, and had to be ordered. Despite several attempts, we still do not have that board (no one stocks it). I have checked today, and it is scheduled to be here in three more business days, and we will install it then. The board is still inside the heater, and it does not control anything other than the heater itself. Our store manager has been in the hospital since the time that this repair started, and that has greatly affected communications that he would normally handle. Again, I am sorry about the delay, it will be repaired soon! In the future, we will be able to respond quickly like we have in the past."
