First, I will say I am disabled veteran with a HISA grant for a no threshold shower and was hoping to get a professional and reputable contractor. Erik Anderson seemed professional upon first meeting him, however he seemed as if he assumed we didn't have enough money to afford them. We purchased a 1970’s built home 5 years ago that is well maintained, yet dated, and in a highly desired neighborhood. We have been wanting to upgrade our kitchen and bathrooms for a while now. We contacted AndersonMoore Kitchen & Bath and received a quick response and inspection by Erik Anderson of our 5x7 bathroom within 1 week. That is when it all went down hill. Erik Anderson first acted like our house was beneath him when he presented himself and walked in our house. He instantly started taking notes and kept questioning our ability to pay with subtle hints (this might be above your price range) for the renovation. We assured him we had no trouble paying for the renovation thinking that that would end the questioning, it did not. He took notes and kept trying to add more services onto our renovation even after the constant questioning of pay. After he left he assured us he would have a quote without 1 to 1 ½ weeks. After 3 weeks we decided to call and never received a call back. We then received a condescending email that gave a ridiculous quote just for the shower of $15-18K. And was advised that we should call West Shore. He never quoted the job, which was a full bathroom tear down and remodel. We researched contractors and knew they were higher than most, however, we wanted to go with a higher end contractor that we hoped we could trust. Below is the snippet from his email after we called several times asking for a quote. “I have been working on the pricing for your project. If I remember correctly, the VA allows about $6300 or $8300 (can’t remember which) for this type of work. We are significantly above that amount. Quick number for the zero threshold shower is about $15,000-$18,000. I would suggest looking at West Shore Homes. Their process and product is very different from ours. It is not tile. It is some type of solid surface material. But they have a system that allows them to be very efficient. I would suggest contacting them for some pricing for your project. I am sorry we can’t help but hopefully West Shore can. Thank you and have a good day.” The quote is not only very vague, but it also does not break down all the services we requested. This is a perfect example of someone that dresses professionally but lacks the skill and know- how to properly break down and develop a quote. We then called several times on his mobile phone and office to ask about the email. We have yet to receive a response after 2 weeks. The quote is not only almost 2 ½ times the national average for 5x7 bathroom remodel, his amount only covers the single walk-in-shower remodel. AndersonMoore lacks professionalism and from our experience over inflates their quote or gives ridiculous quotes to those they feel cannot afford their services. We never told him what our budget was and he never asked. These types of contractors are the ones that will be crying the loudest in the next big recession. We do not recommend AndersonMoore Kitchen & Bath for any military active duty, veteran, or civilian unless you live in a very affluent neighborhood.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do about me and my company. Some of your points are certainly valid. However, some of your perceptions about me and my actions are inaccurate. While I have tried many times to talk with you in person about your experience, I'll have to reply here instead. I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you in a timely manner after our initial meeting. I shouldn't have promised to have pricing so close to Christmas. Your calls after New Year's with questions about my email went unanswered because I had the flu, but in retrospect, I could have had someone get back to you from my office. Again, I apologize, though I did try to contact you 4 days after you reached out, not 2 weeks as you stated. You mentioned I acted like your house was beneath me. I'm sorry you got this impression, it couldn't be further from the truth. I live in a modest, 2BR, 2-bath home. I never look down at people for where they live. Anyone who knows me can attest to that. When we first met, questions were asked about your project—not to upsell you, but to get a clear understanding of what you wanted to do. I was never questioning your ability to pay. I was just letting you know that the zero threshold shower you wanted was going to be significantly more than what the VA provides. The way we do this type of shower is complicated and can get expensive because of necessary steps to ensure, among other things, that the flooring is waterproofed properly. Our estimate of $15-$18k isn't "ridiculous" and is actually in line with average costs across the country for this type of full-tile, zero threshold shower. Other companies take a different, less expensive approach which is why I told you about West Shore. At the end of the day, I am sorry that you didn't have a good experience with me and AndersonMoore. There were no bad intentions on my part and while my follow-through and communication could have been better, I am not at all the person you portray me to be. I wish you and your wife luck with your remodel. Erik Anderson

This was the best experience we have ever had with a remodeling and general contracting company. We replaced the cabinets, counter-tops, sink, faucet, appliances, minor footprint change, new light fixtures, paint, and hardwood flooring. Rather than engage with a general contractor first that refer you to a 3rd party designer, they design first and walk you through a comprehensive process to define the scope of work. They completed the project on time with very high work quality, were very receptive to feedback and made adjustments where requested. Overall communication was excellent - we always felt informed of work scheduled for the day. Also, they did a great job sealing the kitchen to minimize dust and went out of their way to protect the existing floors. Finally, the costs of kitchen remodels are higher than what you see on HGTV renovation shows so be prepared there are no cheap options. With Dream Maker's you have piece of mind knowing the job is done right and with craftsmanship versus typical builder grade quality. The only challenge, the wood floors came in higher than estimated. They did an excellent job matching the existing stain from the adjacent room - this saved time and money. Overall, great in-house demolition, cabinet installers and excellent flooring sub-contractor. I would recommend without hesitation.
Description of Work: After getting several quotes from general contractors to remodel our kitchen, we decided to use DreamMaker's based on their professional approach, with in-house design and demonstrated track record (high BBB rating, positive Angie's list reviews and industry awards for quality). The owners and team members made this a truly great experience for a high dollar investment.

They were professional, personable, and reliable from start to finish! Our project manager, James, was great about keeping in regular contact with us about the progress of our remodel. The project went smoothly and they even finished in less time than expected...when do you ever hear that?! I was home part of the time while they were working, and found each of their subcontractors to be friendly, pleasant and respectful, as well. The finished project is beautiful and just what we wanted! We would use them again without hesitation. Well done, Anderson-Moore Builders/Dream Maker Bath & Kitchen!

Provider was called to visit my home to discuss bath remodeling options. In a telephone call I described our current 5' x 8' bath and listed areas that might be addressed: new floor, replacing wall tiles and improving the walk-in shower. The provider first asked if we wanted to expand the footprint. No. He then asked what our budget was. When I hesitated, he said that he was not going to keep going back and forward about budget. (And we had only talked for a few minutes, and I had been very polite.) I then told him that we could not exceed $8,000. His reply was that amount was too small a job and his company was not interested in working with us. It seems to me that a more professional approach would be to send a representative to my home and discuss options. Maybe $8,000 could make a "miracle," or maybe we could gone beyond that if the ideas were presented in an inviting manner, which we were prepared to do.
Description of Work: I did not get any further than a telephone call and that was a disaster.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize that our company was not a good fit for you. We have been in business for 19 years and have discovered that the processes we have in place work for our business model and are intended to help, not hinder the remodeling process. [member name removed] called into our office and we discussed his remodeling project over the phone. Our process starts with a phone conversation like this to get general information about the project, such as the type of project, any structural changes or relocating walls, any deadlines or time constraints we might be working under for scheduling purposes, and a “wish list” of things for the remodeled space. This type of conversation helps to determine expectations regarding the design and the budget for the project. When I asked if [member name removed] had a budget in mind, he responded with a chuckle and said he preferred that I tell him the prices, and he would decide if it was within his budget. I explained that prices for a project can be all over the place until we get an understanding of what type of budget constraints we are working within. We also must determine if we feel the homeowner’s budget is realistic for the scope of the project. At first, [member name removed] did not have a budget in mind, but after I suggested some budget ranges of typical projects we encounter for similar size and scope of bathrooms, he told me his budget was not going to exceed $8,000.00. I then politely told [member name removed] that I did not think we were going to be able to produce the project he wanted to complete, based on the scope of work he had detailed to me, for the budget he had allotted, and I wished him luck in his search. Had we gone further in our conversation, I would have explained that the next step in our process is the initial meeting in our Design Center and not at the customer’s home. We have found, from interviewing past customers, that the process of visiting the Design Center for the initial consultation is a helpful one. It gives them the ability to look at samples, pictures and displays of kitchens and baths, and it allows us access to our catalogs for questions that may arise during the discussions. The conversation that [member name removed] called “a disaster” was actually a quality conversation about the budget and expectations for a normal sized bathroom remodel that we encounter every day in our business. It might not have been information that [member name removed] wanted to hear, but I hoped that I helped him set some realistic expectations for the budget amount required to remodel his bathroom.

I was very dissatisfied with them. He quoted about $1500 to draw-up the plans and then he sent me a bill for $4000. I really felt like I was dealing with a used-car salesman. The guy was dishonest from the word go. I called him about the quote and he said that he would make some adjustments. When he sent it back, it was still almost $3000. The plans he sent me were half-baked plans. They weren?t even blue prints - they were just simple computer generated plans. I was blown away by how unprofessional they were. It took them from May to August just to get the quote. Moreover, the amount that he quoted to actually do the work was $350,000, and if it had included hardwood floors and a couple of other things, it would have been almost $400,000. I had two other quotes right around $200,000 for the work.
Description of Work: We wanted to bump out our kitchen and sunroom and build a screen porch. So we used Anderson - Moore Builders to draw-up a plan for us.

CLIENT HAS NOT PAID US ANY MONEY FOR THE WORK. They asked me, site unseen, at an open house for a design price for their project. Upon meeting with them at their house, I said $2000-$3000. This project was rather detailed and difficult. The project involved bumping out the ENTIRE back of the house (the back wall is 54 feet long!). This means engineering a beam to support the entire exterior second floor of the house. The kitchen was also completely renovated. The dining room was extended. The screen porch was a two story screen porch with large, heavy timbers as the framing. The surface of the screen porch was natural stone on concrete. The ceiling of the screen porch was tongue and groove pine. There was also a large natural stone on concrete patio stretching nearly the entire back of the house connecting to the screen porch. There were two screen porches over the kitchen addition. We had to come up with a design so rain that would get on these screen porches would not get into the living space (the kitchen) below. The second floor master bathroom was increased by extending the exterior wall to allow for a larger tub and shower area. Also on the second floor, there was a deck connecting one of the screen porches to spiral staircase. Some windows in the existing home were relocated and a load bearing wall was removed in the house. The cabinets and tops alone were about $45,000 (this price can be modified based on quality of cabinets). You can see this was a rather large project. Our first meeting was on June 4th. After a few site visits and some meetings in the office, a full specification package was developed, the design completed, and the pricing developed. We tried to meet on August 4th, and finally met on August 10th. 2 MONTHS for ALL of this work is pretty good, not the four months he is implying. If they can get somebody to build all those beautiful things we designed for $200,000, go for it, but watch out, I am sure it is not what was designed. That is WAY below our costs to perform this project. Design costs - our designers worked about 100 hours on their designs. I spent another 37 hours working through the design and pricing phases. We billed them less than $25 per hour for all the design work we performed. That is pretty inexpensive. The drawings - he simply asked for a copy to review. He never said he needed anything large and complex. We can easily produce those drawings. We may not have set our expectations properly. For that I apologize. I can say we do not deserve the harsh words this person is saying about us. A face to face conversation would have been much better than dragging our reputation through the mud on Angie's List. Personally, I think this person's response is uncalled for and unprofessional, barely worth a response, but I must write one so you, the reader can make proper judgment on the quality and professionalism of our company. It is nothing like what this person is saying.

I thought the people that worked on this were just extremely delightful. I was kind of shocked at how high the price was. It was not jut them because everyone's prices were high. I could not believe it. I really appreciated their concern with everything. They would even stop by to ask if we had any concerns about the way things were going. I was glad that we had good communication skills with them. They even set up meetings with their supervisor for us regarding any questions we may have had. It was just a great experience. It only took a few months for this job to get completed, which I thought would have took a lot longer.
Description of Work: Anderson built an addition off of my house that consisted of a bathroom, hallway and sunroom. The sun room has three windows and a pair of French doors in it as well. We have floor to ceiling bookshelves that are on a slant and we also have about four windows in the hallway as well.

I am very happy with the basement. It is just as we wanted it. It was completed finished within the time expected. I did think the price was maybe a little high. I do feel that they did quality work. I am glad we did the project.
Description of Work: Anderson Moore Builders finished off our basement. I am not sure of the size of our basement but they made it into one large family room and a laundry room. They had to drywall the walls and finish off the ceiling. They built walls to separate the family room from the laundry area and storage area. Two doors were installed for the two rooms. A small portion was just as it was where we have our water softener and other stuff. They also subcontracted the electrician and plumber.

Oh, we were so pleased with the services we received from this company. They worked diligently and accurately and we would use them again in the future. Our addition is beautiful and we very much enjoy it to date. We also thought that for the tremendous amount of work that they did for us, we were given a very reasonable price. The work we wanted them to do was quite a large job. They handled the workload very well and as a result, we would use them again and again.
Description of Work: We remodeled the upstairs of our home and this company built the entire thing. They installed the walls and floor joints and quite simply, put up the additional 20 x 20 added space onto our home. They added walls in for us to create more divided spaces in that 20 x 20 space, installed windows and doorways and took care of our electrical needs for that space. The only work they virtually did not do in that space for us was plumbing. Everything else, they did on their own.

I am not willing to discuss to much of this job with you. However, I will tell you that Anderson is a great company. Now, the work is satisfying, but, the process was not so great. They were a great bunch of guys, but, it was kind of like babysitting. As far as hiring again, I probably would because now I know how to deal with them and I do not think it would be as bad the next time. I do not wish to share nay pricing information with you at this time.
Description of Work: Anderson Moore did some major renovation to my two story home. They added a small addition. They also ripped out some walls, hung lots of drywall, and installed lighting and about 12 fixtures. They also installed about 10 windows and some other things as well.

I am confident enough to say that Anderson did a good job. The workers were very nice, very attentive and they all were classy. I am sorry that I do not remember exactly what they had charged me, but, I will not give a complaint about it. I found them to be very reasonable and very much worth a re hire.

I had a great experience with Anderson's. The one thing I liked most is that they all spoke English, which was very good for me. I was able to ask questions and everything. The job went well thanks to the nice and polite people that were here.
