When I contacted Advanced Appliance Service about the double billing, they were almost confrontational and required extra efforts on my part to prove that they had been overpaid. They would not accept the printouts of my on-line statements with my business bank, and required me to get copies of the checks from the bank (at an added expense) to prove the double charge and double payment.
It was a terrible experience and after what seemed an eternity of them dragging their feet, I finally received the refund (including the bank fees) in February of 2013.
Anyone doing business with them, please be careful and mindful of these financial deceptions.
I believe it was because I had stopped using them on a regular basis. In a way they saw it as an opportunity to hit me for excessive fees.
Now mind you I have always paid all my bills on time and have never not paid them for their services. I even paid the technician on site when the job was done for this service call.
It has been very frustrating the way Advanced Appliance Service has treated me (a local business) we could rekindle our working relationship, but I'd have to see a lot of changes in their fees and customer service.
I explained to Michael Cooper's wife the seriousness of my health condition. I also told them that we had just had service performed by Advanced Appliance, and subpar service at that. Finally, I explained to them that their trainee and/or technician probably caused the present problem with the heat pump unit, and they needed to hustle out and see whether the resulting damage could be rectified.
Advanced Appliance Service didn't care. So we asked AHS to assign another company, and they said they would try to find one. The next day, we called AHS again and they said they had been unable to locate another contractor for our problem. We got permission from the and quot;outside approvalsand quot; department of AHS to find our own technician. By this time it was nearly dark on Thursday, and the problem was more than 48 hours old. We moved into a hotel so that I could breathe. Almost immediately, we made contact with another company who offered to come out that night with an emergency trip charge, or the next day (Friday) for a normal trip charge. Since we were already in an air-conditioned space (the hotel), we asked the new company to come out the next morning.
It took the new technician (from H.H. Hovey) approximately five minutes to find and fix the main problem. Advanced Appliance Service had left a bare, 115-volt wire, dangling inside the compressor housing. The wire was grounding against the compressor, causing an interruption of amperage to the fan, causing the entire unit (coils included) to overheat, and burning the insulation on other wires. The technician put a wire nut on the bare wire and secured the wire, and everything was working again.
After H.H. Hovey completed this repair, we called Advanced Appliance Service early Friday afternoon and asked to speak to the manager. We were going to give Advanced Appliance a chance to and quot;make things rightand quot; by paying our hotel bill and refunding the outside expenses for the time and trouble we had incurred because of their incompetent and substandard service. We were told that they would and quot;have Mike call us Monday when he comes back to workand quot; (apparently Michael Cooper likes his weekends long and free).
Mr. Cooper never called back. Not on Monday. Not on Tuesday. Not on Wednesday. Finally my wife called him and he came on the phone with an angry and quot;I'm not paying for your room.and quot; The conversation got worse after that.
Advanced Appliance Services is no longer allowed to set foot on our property. I can recommend this same course of action to anyone contemplating using their services.
