Bass Heating & Cooling

My A/C went out one night around 9:00 PM. I called a few companies and some gave me the run around about it would be the next day before they could come out. And others quoted me such a high price to come out at night that I just about gave up. I called my mother-in-law to see if she knew anyone, and she told me about Keith Bass at Bass Heating & Cooling. By this time it was about 10:30 PM. I hated to do it, but I called him at home. After telling him my situation, he asked me a question that no other company had asked, "Are there any infants or elderly people in the home?" Believe it or not, I have a 3 month old daughter. After telling him this, he was on his way. Not one of they guys who work for him, but Mr. Bass. Upon arriving, he checked the airflow in the house and once seeing that was ok, he went to the outside unit. He tried a few things to see if he could get the compressor running, but no such luck. He gave me a quote on replacing the compressor compared to the cost of replacing the whole system. He also showed me what years of not properly maintaining the equipment had done to the coils. I had never seen so much algae on a coil. After giving me an upfront price of $2,700.00 to replace the entire system he went out to his van and came back with a window unit A/C that would help us get through the night more comfortably. I told him I would let him know in the morning if we were going to have the system replaced. He charged me $69.00 to come out that night and told me it would be deducted from the price of installing a new one if that's what I decided to do. Now, here is where I feel bad. I actually called the other companies back the next day to get prices on changing out the A/C. Anyway, Bass was still more affordable than the others. I called Mr. Bass around noon that day and agreed to have them put in the A/C. The next morning at 7:00 AM he was there with one of his guys to start the work. By 4:00 PM that same day he had my new A/C system running. And when he gave me the bill it was for $2,431.00. He explained to me that he had taken off the $69.00 for the service call and another $200.00 because he was able to use the existing ductwork connected the Air Handler in the attic. Wasn't expecting that. He even explained to me that he was able to do it cheaper than the others because he doesn't have all the fancy overhead that the other companies do. (Advertising, Big Office, etc...) What impressed me is that the owner of the company is out there working with everyone else. I recommend this company to anyone in the Wilson, Goldsboro, Raleigh, Greenville, or surrounding area.
