Once again B&J went out of their way to keep our business and ensure our home will be cool this summer! 5 years ago they installed a unit that was suppose to be state of the line. unfortunately the manufacturer misrepresented it's efficiency and we have had nothing but problems since. B&J replaced our unit and gave us a new warranty. They are amazing! Thank you Mark, Mitch, Jose, Louis and everyone there. You have some loyal happy customers!

Realized there was a problem at about 1pm when a chunk of plaster fell out of the downstairs ceiling.  Ran upstairs, found water all around the master toilet.  Cranked down the shut-off valve, but water was still leaking into the wall.  Called three plumbers before B&J, none could get out here, but Travis from B&J got out here in under 2 hours from the call, and only 30 minutes into the 3-hour window his scheduler gave me.
He quickly but thoroughly traced the leak back, outlined exactly what it would take to fix while showing me the problem, quoted me a price and got right to work.  He was very professional, and showed us where the previous owner had done some improper DIY work resulting in a kinked line.  When done, he cleaned up behind him and showed exactly what he did.
We would definitely use B&J in the future.

I called for service at 9AM and They had a plumber there before noon to do the necessary repairs and gave an estimate of the repair and work to be done before they started. They had to get a part from a plumbing supply store and replaced the defective part and cleaned whatever mess and explained what they did .They were very professional and courteous.

I asked them to cancel our plumbing maintenance contract but they didn't do it right away, and we were charged for a few extra months. They didn't cancel the contract on time and also we didn't use them for any maintenance work, just repairs.

I submitted a request for service on their website late in the afternoon and got a call promptly the next morning to schedule the work. They have a $49 diagnostic fee for the initial visit, but it's applied to the cost of the repair if you choose to have them do the work, which we did. They arrived as scheduled, and before any work was started, they sat down with us and reviewed all the items we had requested. We also added one item, and it was no problem. They gave us a quote prior to starting work, and once it was approved, they started immediately. They were very professional, respected our home, didn't leave a mess and always wore shoe covers when inside the house. They worked quietly and efficiently on each issue. As with most pluming jobs, there were other issues discovered in the course of the work. The toilet that wasn't working was in horrible shape and needed to be replaced. We were given a quote on a new one, which we approved, and the toilet was here and installed the same day. The slow drain issue turned out to be quite serious, the drain to the city sewer (this is an older home, so it has cast iron drain pipes) was severely clogged and needed to be cleared. Again, we were given a quote for that work and we approved...additional help was brought in and the job was completed. All of the work took about a day and a half. There were no hidden charges, we paid exactly what we were quoted...and were given a 10% discount since we paid by check instead of credit card.
We were extremely pleased with the quality of the work, the professionalism and courteousness of the staff, and the overall experience. I graded their pricing a and quot;Band quot; only because they are a bit more than other local plumbers, but we had no issue with paying a bit extra given the quality of the work and staff at B and J. We highly recommend them.

The technician came out and asked what symptoms I was experiencing. He checked for Freon pressure, found it was almost completely empty, and started checking for leaks. He inspected the whole system and found a large leak in the condensing unit. He recommended a complete system replacement due to the age and condition of the existing system (12 years old and fairly rusted). I did not have to money to replace the whole system ($4500), so we opted to replace just the leaking condensing unit. The job was efficient and pretty quick, and fixed my immediate issue. He encouraged me to contact them when I was ready to replace the remainder of the unit. I even got a discount for paying with cash.

They were on time and did good work but they broke another part of the sink during the work and pretended that it was an old part. They triple-charged on everything and I did not realize this until they came back to replace the broken part. They took us for a ride.

"We have on our records we did perform service work for this customer at this address on 2/6/2007. Our records do not agree with this customer's response. Perhaps since it has been over 5 years since this work was performed, memory may not be accurate. We did perform work at this address, were called back a month later for a leak near a faucet we replaced, but we found the dishwasher hose was leaking and needed replacing. We quoted a price of $121.00 to replace this hose. The customer chose not to have the work performed, but did sign up on our plumbing maintenance plan and stayed on this plan for 9 months before she cancelled. We perform follow up calls with all of our customers after performing service work, and at no time was any dissatisfaction ever expressed. This is the first we've heard of there being any problem with the work that was performed over 5 years ago. Our comfort specialist did estimate to replace the heating and air conditioning system in January, 2010, and again, at no point were we ever made aware of there being a problem."

He didn't try to push me into buying a new system since the one I had is over 13 yrs old. He gave me a very detail copy of the work he had done. He gave me the pro's and con's of what to expect since this was an old unit BEFORE he did the work and left the decision up to me if I wanted a new unit or keep and repair the old unit. When I chose to keep the old unit her did not try to change my mind. That I like! I was very satisfied and it was so nice to be cool again. I'm sure in the near future the unit will go out and I will be calling
B and J to do the work.

The team that removed the furnace and the ducting also cleaned up their work (and some prior plumber's trash), hauling it off themselves. The team leader physically stayed with the project from start to finish and did the work with the team (as opposed to supervision only). The crawl space delivery ducts were pulled first with the vent access covered to prevent any potential vermin from entering the house (including our resident black snake) and then pulled the return system from the attic. They then custom formed the ducting for both crawl space and attic, sealing each piece and then insulating it to then install and hang. This project took several days (with a weekend in the midst). They left large electric space heaters for us to use in case the nights were chilly. Prior to installing the new furnace, they allowed us time to insulate and sheetrock the alcove and they corrected some odd plumbing and added a whole house water shut-off valve that was more accessible at our request. The furnace installation took longer than expected, but they maintained communication throughout. The system was split and an extra return was added to accommodate the cubic footage (house had been added onto without changing the heating/cooling system capacity). We have been very happy with the air quality, the quietness of the system and the reduced power bills.

We could not have asked for a better set of technicians. They were polite, curtious, and knowledgeable. When they entered my home they always wore booties on their shoes. They clean up after themselves and made sure we were happy with all their work.

We have a 3 and 4 year old who clogged their toilet. Despite multiple attempts with a plunger there was no water moving and it actually overflowed just sitting still. Today, a Friday, my wife called multiple plumbers and this was the only company who could fix, unclog, the toilet today. Upon arrival, the plumber was very pleasant and dressed well. However, he told my wife that it was 50 dollars just to take a look at the problem, but would be applied to the bill if we decided to go ahead with the repair. Obviously it was a clogged toilet and the use of the roto-rooter was needed, which was recommended, but the outrageous sum of 189 dollars was quoted to complete the job. This should have cost no more than 50 dollars. 15 minutes later and with the removal of paper towel material, the toilet was working normally. We did receive 20 dollars off of the bill for donating food to a local homeless shelter through this company and the collected items were give to the plumber. He also quoted prices of 400 dollars to replace parts on the toilet and 600 dollars to replace the toilet. Also quite inflated. I rated the quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism as good as opposed to excellent as given the specified trade, service and job it would be difficult to discern between the two quantitative categories. While the plumber was pleasant, well dressed and professional, the fees were excessive and I have to wonder if this is partly the result of them taking advantage of a female trying to get a toilet fixed before the weekend. My wife knew the fees were high, but had no choice given our two young children.
Response from B & J Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
"Our prices are pre-calculated and pre-printed in a price book. The same price is given to ALL customers upfront for their approval BEFORE the work is performed, regardless of their sex, age, or any other classification. Our prices do not change for emergency service (except for the diagnostic fee) or the amount of time spent completing the job. We have found this to be fair as some technicians with more experience can complete the same job quicker than less experienced technicians but provide the same quality job with the same excellent customer service; therefore, the job being performed should always cost the same. Our diagnostic fee of $49 for plumbing and $59 for heating & air conditioning (which is applied to the service call if work is performed) is quoted on the telephone by our customer service rep BEFORE the call is scheduled, so if a customer does not wish to pay the diagnostic fee, the call is not scheduled. Any comparable licensed and fully insured professional service company that performs extensive criminal background checks, initial and random drug screening, provides highly trained and skilled service technicians who are able to perform service quickly and efficiently with excellent customer service and the best warranties in the industry, as well as fully equipped trucks with all necessary parts and tools will have prices in line with ours. We offer 100% customer satisfaction. If any customer ever has questions or complaints about the service performed or the price charged at their home, we would request they contact our office directly for a more detailed explanation pertaining to their individual service."

They did a good job. I got along very good with them and I only had one issue. One of the helpers that came in tried to undercut the other guy and he wanted to come back and do work on the weekend and he cut the other guy and I didn't like that.

From the moment the technician arrived he was great. On time, wore shoe covers EVERY time he entered the house. Prior to beginning the work he went over the worksite and the scope of work. He was up front about all of the details and informed me about updated plumbing and electrical codes that applied to the installation and upgrade. Went out of his way to find a solution to the requirement of a parking barrier for garage water heater installs that was in compliance while still being as unobtrusive as possible. When the job was finished, he explained all the other services that Band J offered. When i went out to the garage after he had left i noticed that not only had they cleaned up all the debris from the job, but had also straightened up some other old appliances i had out there from other ongoing work, thus leaving the site in better shaape than when he arrived. I would definitely recommend Band J, and in particular Mr Acuff,
