Skipper's Plumbing Service

We’ve used “Skipper’s Plumbing” for over 30 years. They are always honest, professional, friendly and fair. Over the years they have replaced water heaters, faucets, replaced broken water lines, cleaned clogged pipes and installed shower units. The work is ALWAYS top quality and guaranteed. I would recommend Skipper’s to anyone. Don’t confuse “Skipper’s Plumbing” with a different company in Wilmington called “Skipper Septic Tank Service” which I believe a previous negative review is actually about a bad experience with septic lines and septic tank tops left open. I know from our 30+ years experience with “Skipper’s Plumbing “ they always do quality professional work and would never do such a thing and ALL the other reviews for “Skipper’s Plumbing “ are very positive.

If I could give zero stars I would, they came out and pumped our septic after we asked them to also do the fills lines, they never finished the job, left the open hole around the septic tank and never put the cap back on, we had to hire an additional plumber to come out the cap on the tanks. One week later the septic is still backing up into our home and he tells us to call another company because they couldn’t find the fill lines and “we did not offer to come and dig the lines up with his crew”. Because “the heat index was too hot for that type of work” Skipper had the audacity to suggest we should have dug it up ourselves to make their job easier and that we should be able to control the heat index when hiring for jobs. Essentially he is just out here doing half the work accepting cash only and taking zero responsibility when he doesn’t do the job in full. He then kept calling my husband little boy and when I corrected him he hung up. Zero for professionalism, zero for the actual work done, zero for the cost. This man is a snake in the grass waiting for u suspecting victims to rob. Do not hire him!

I called, told them my problem, they said they would pick up a new heater and be at my house the next morning, they we prompt, did not track up my carpet and were very quick and efficient.

Before he installed the drain value he made sure that we agreed to it. He also looked at some rust on out master bathroom bathtub and told me that I could fix it myself with no problems, thereby saving me money. He was right- I bought a kit and did it with no problems. We've used him multiple times before and is always punctual, fair, honest, and more importantly, does a great job.

Great. Skipper is reliable, quick and fair in his pricing. There may be cheaper plumbers out there (I don't know...since I started using Skipper I haven't checked), but his work is quality so I'd rather pay a bit more and know it is being done right.

Mr. Skipper and his crew courteously answered questions and advised fully and clearly. If using a plumber's services could be categorized as delightful, then this call qualifies.

During the ten years that we have been in this house, we have had several plumbers do service work of a minor nature for us. In one case we really liked the plumber, but unfortunately he decided to quit plumbing and go into other work. The others were terrible, at the least. We would never call them again.
We are so thankful that Skipper's Plumbing Services was recommended, and that we used them for this work.
Skipper did such a great job for us that I placed his office and cell number in my cell phone. In the future, we will always look to Skipper's Plumbing for any work that needs to be done in our house. He has been in business for 32 years, since 1980.
We are now working with him to possibly install a separate water meter on the exterior plant and grass irrigation system, in order to save on our high water bill. We look forward to having Skip and Jimmie back in our house and yard.

He is dependable. He comes out quickly when I call him; I never had a problem with that. He is honest to me; I think he is an honest plumber. He comes as quickly as he can when I call him.

The last time I called Mr. Skipper was about 9:00 on a Sunday morning. When I walked into my kitchen barefoot and got my feet wet, I immediately called Mr. Skipper, and by the time I had turned off the water under the sink and mopped up, he was here. With no loss of time he discovered the problem was a hole in my disposal; he went off (about two miles) to get me a new one and installed it. We had a good conversation about Don Quixote and representations thereof as he worked, but he didn't lose any time in fixing my problem.

Since September, I have had inordinately high water bills. I thought it was a leak in the toilet. I fixed that problem myself. The water bills continued to be high, so I waited until after the holiday season to get it checked. It turns out that I waited longer than I should have. Today (March 8, 2011) I called Skipper's Plumbing to describe my problem. The company was at my door two hours after my call! I was anxious to find the problem, so the company did a thorough search in my house and outside. They went to the crawl space and found that an old rubber fitting had cracked under the bath tub. Water was everywhere! The leak was so bad that the water actually sprayed out of the crawl space {window}. Skipper's found the leak within 10 minutes. The leak was fixed within 20 minutes, and I got a good price. If it had not been for Skipper's, I would still be paying those high water bills. The workers were very professional and they told me step-by-step what they were doing. So within 1/2 hour, they were able to fix the problem. They gladly wrote a letter for me to take to CFPU in order for me to get an adjustment on a future water bill. I was very satisfied with the service. I would definitely call them again.

Showed up on time; fixed the problems same day even though a part had to be gotten from somewhere else, which he did quickly. Good at explaining the problems, the alternatives, and the fixes. I can't comment on price because I am the renter; the bill was sent to the owner.
