I initially had high hopes working with Johnnie at JDW Exteriors?he was responsive and assured me the roof was fixed. But the leak not only persisted, it got worse. He returned three or four times, yet the issue remained. When I pointed out that the leak worsened after his repairs, he denied making things worse?even though it was clear that the way he accessed the roof left additional holes. I?ve since sent photos and messages through Angi?s List, but he hasn?t responded in over two months. I even asked for help putting a tarp on the roof?still nothing. He also requested payment through PayPal using the ?friends and family? option, which would?ve left me with no protection. As a disabled Veteran and hurricane victim, I expected better. If this is how JDW Exteriors treats vulnerable customers, I would strongly recommend hiring someone else.

David did a wonderful job with removing and replacing the picket fence. He improved the looks of the yard immensely. He handled the job very well.

Mailbox needed to be replaced. David called me and was able to come by my home same day. He left for supplies and completed the job within a couple of hours. David was very professional and I would highly recommend him for future jobs.

Extremely friendly and empathetic to my 82 year old Father's house issues from Hurricane Helene. My Dad was one of the very luckiest people to be impacted (damage, yes, but not displaced and obviously did not lose everything like so many others in the area). David was super fast to respond, he and his team were there within 24 hours. They did an amazing job at an extremely fair price, and started/finished the job quickly which was the trifecta of great service. I highly recommend this company to anyone in the area who needs any type of exterior work done.

Very responsive and professional. They were informative on the issue and how it was going to be resolved. I won't know it's completely fixed until the next heavy storm, but I'm assured it's fixed.

Where do I start? We hired JDW to install a fence in October of 2021. The project did not begin until the end of December 2021 and it is still - technically - not completed as of June 6, 2022. I say technically because it is paid for (which was my mistake) though neither of the gates are operational and the fence is leaning over. Apparently the owner outsourced the work to some very nice gentlemen from out of state who had never built a fence before. The gentlemen did not receive guidance on how to complete the task, thus the fence and gates are not operational. Add to that - the shadow box is missing pieces and does not appear to be professional work. While working, they nicked our gas line - which led to a very high gas bill - and tried to insinuate we should pay for the gas line repair (we did not pay for that). We were given a very sad story and paid the fence bill with the assurance that any issues would be taken care of. After 6 months of calling, we have continued to receive the same assurances with no resolution. They have come out to assess the issues several times - but have yet to actually DO anything about it. We have logged dozens of calls and texts to their office - but they are no longer responding. I have never gotten an actual human being on the phone when I call, though I can now navigate their call menu like a pro. Based on their own assessments, the fence was not installed properly and the gates were not built properly. Despite their repeated promises that the issues would be repaired, there has been no actual attempt to correct the issues. I literally just went through my texts and saw 19 promises made to show up - and they were all missed. Some with excuses, most ignored. Zero stars. Would not recommend.

Good workers

Repaired the rotten wood on our front porch. Very professional! Came out to give an estimate, evaluated potential causes of the water damage and repair the porch a few days later. Quality job! Highly recommended.

Not a very reliable gentleman.1) his word, when it comes to this timeline and deposit of money for supplies? He is bouncing off job to job before he will finish or complete one. HE HAS EVERY EXCUSE IN THE WORLD. FROM WEATHER TO HELP. THEY LEAVE ALL THEIR PERSONAL TRASH LAYING ALL OVER THE YARD.

JDW saved us from a meltdown after the previous contractor never showed up to finish our fence. He was very professional, and always communicated if he was running late or if there were delays because of the rain. David, the owner, answered all of our questions clearly, and was very patient with us. I would definitely recommend this business!

David came out to perform estimate and provide quote. He was early, very professional, knowledgeable and personable. Megan is the administrator and she has gone out of her way to provide timely correspondence and be available outside conventional hours. My line of work limits my availability during “normal” times and Megan has been very accommodating. Thus far, I am extremely happy with my choice.

JDW was professional, friendly, prompt, and communicated with me via pictures and texts while repairing my roof. I will use them again, if another storm decides to take some shingles down. Highly recommend!

JDW came out to give an estimate the next business day after my request, and completed our project the next day. Very pleased with the quick turnaround.

I found them very attentive to detail. David answered all my questions promptly. I wasn’t able to be there during the work so his communication was essential.

The contractor was a couple of hours late for our initial appointment, but I know that things happen and we hired him because we like to use small, local businesses. The work crew that actually did the R&R on our roof was timely and the roof actually looks great. However, there were issues that arose during the job. A nail became lodged in a bathroom exhaust fan and it quit. It took a few days to get that remedied. The dumpster that was placed in our driveway, next to our primary access, was completely disgusting. It smelled (I am talking stench) of urine and rotting food; the heat only intensified that aroma. The dumpster also attracted swarms of (biting) yellow flies. When they finally removed the dumpster, three days after the job was completed, they left behind a trail of nails, screws, and an outline of the dumpster full of rust and the accompanying disgusting smells. It took two more days to get someone here to clean up that mess, and he was an hour later than I was told. All in all, I would not recommend this contractor based on the myriad of issues that arose. So far, I cannot complain about the craftsmanship of the actual work crew.

BEWARE THIS COMPANY!! Our case against this company is currently under investigation by the NC Attorney General, the BBB, and the Federal Trade Commission. On 4/27/2020, HomeAdvisor connected us with JDW EXTERIORS in Wilmington NC, for a siding repair on our vacation rental home. David, the owner, gave an estimate and we sent him a check for $4,246.66. He put a dumpster in our front driveway, weeks before the project was to start, blocking parking. We notified him right away and asked that it be moved to the back yard. David said he didnt believe the dumpster blocked parking. We sent him pictures and explained how critical this was to our business if there was no parking. David said it would be moved in 2 days. It was never moved and blocked parking for weeks while no work was being done. We received a bad online review on international vacation websites stating the dumpster was a HUGE EYESORE. We got no rentals for weeks after that in peak season. On 6/5, David did not show up to start the job as promised. He sent us a text and pic of rain stating they couldnt work. Our local rental manager reported to us there was no rain. We relayed this to David asking him where he was and where did he take that picture? We got no reply. After more messages from us he finally texted I dont believe those people in reference to our rental managers report of clear weather. Unbeknownst to David, we drove 4 hours from our home in Charlotte to the site that morning and saw there was no rain, and no evidence of rain earlier. We informed David we were on site. He then changed his story and said he was working in another town where it rained and his tools got wet so he couldnt work for the rest of the day. David must think we;re stupid as it was so sunny that any wet ladder or tool would have dried in a matter of minutes. An entire company is going to shut down their business for a whole day because a ladder got wet? Right. We messaged David asking him to please call-after several hours he did. He said they had big jobs that were more important and they didnt typically do jobs like ours. Huh? Why did they take on our job? It boiled down to they had a more lucrative job they were working on elsewhere. He sent us a message stating they would come get the siding and mail back our deposit check if we preferred to cancel, and we could find another contractor. We begged him to please do the right thing and just do the work they promised. We stopped hearing from David. He would not respond to messages. The next day we notified HomeAdvisor and we emailed JDW EXTERIORS of this relaying we would retract the complaint if they would just do the job. That day, Johnnie, from JDW EXTERIORS sent an email stating THEY were opting out of our job and charging us for their expenses! We immediately emailed a response telling them to remove the siding and dumpster if they were not going to do the work. They sent a receipt stating we owed them a balance but they would waive it and just keep the $4,246.66. They did NO work! THEY chose to abandon the job. This is quite a racket! You could do this all day long and make a nice living, huh? The hold on rentals that week for this job they abandoned cost us $1,670.42. We will never know how much the bad review cost us in rentals. Reviews are one of the main driving forces behind vacation rental property revenue. There are other parts to the story and not enough room here. We would like to know how they like having a review like this that hurts their business the way they hurt our business and ripped us off. We are warning everyone against unethical JDW EXTERIORS. My husband is a senior citizen at 74 years old and Im a nurse working 13 hour days through the covid-19 pandemic. We want to warn everyone of companies who prey on the elderly and take advantage of others during difficult times.

I was very pleased with the work that was done. Reasonably priced and was able to do the job the day after providing a quote. Owner and employees were professional and personable, and the owner came by to inspect the work and took the time to walk around the house to point out anything I might need to keep an eye on in the future. Highly recommended.
