Fairly priced – much lower than one quote; Fast – quickly installed device; Knowledgeable - explained how and why the device worked, no ******** – unlike one other electrician; Brian (owner) was personable and enthusiastic

Brian came to my house to evaluate what needed to be done, then provided me with an estimate. A few days later he had the needed parts and came to do the work. During both the initial home visit and doing the work, Brian explained everything and offered options. When he came to do the work, he did it quickly and efficiently.

Brian was very professional, and was here when he promised.  We explained all the work to be done on the initial visit and he took it from there.  Suggested nothing over the top or dangerous.  Not shy to pull the electric panel and also go under the house.  For future work we plan to get done, he had great ideas and was very friendly to work with.  Definitely referral-worthy.

The first time that we used Electrical Alternatives, Mr. Krause had to climb up into a very tight crawlspace to work and didn't even balk.  The second time we called Brian, he came and replaced a garage light, noted that we would shortly need another one replaced, and allowed us to run to Lowes so that he could go ahead and handle both in one service call.  Brian has plenty of  well-paying work to do and yet, even when the job is as small as re-switching one light, he has cheerfully agreed to come out. We have established a relationship with a professional and he always honors that -- much like the good old days.
The most important thing to know about Brian is that he will solve your problem.  When it's not an obvious problem, he will keep working until he finds the issue and then he will resolve it.  I know this because I smelled smoke in our home on a Saturday evening and dialed 911.  Brian was the next call that I made.  He arrived right after the fire department.  The firemen smelled the smoke but could not determine the source and  they were going to shut off all power to the house until Monday, when Progress Energy could come check things out.  I was distraught.  Brian told the firemen that he would like to take some extra time to see what he could find and promised that if he could not locate the problem, he would ensure that the power was turned off.
And then, he started walking back and forth, along the area everyone had been walking.  He decided to remove the oven from the wall and BINGO -- the wires were smoking.  I hadn't used the oven in a couple of days, so there was no reason to suspect that.  He removed the danger and said that he would be back in the morning.  My hero!  The next day, he spoke with Progress Energy on my behalf and told them what his suspicions were, which turned out to be true.  His communication skills are an A+.  He really saved the day in more ways than one.  Did he gouge me with charges.  Not a chance.  He was so fair and reasonable that I had to write the check for more just to feel okay.
Like the other posters, I would tell any Angie's List member to call Electrical Alternatives and establish a relationship.  You'll never be disappointed.

Most of work done in one day.  Pleasant fellows, nice work.  Came back another day to put ceiling fixture in which was a
rough job but they did it.  Overall a good experience.

Brian should be your electrician.  He does what needs to be done and goes above and beyond the call of duty.  If you do not have an electrician, hire him; I guarantee you will not be disappointed.  This is my second time hiring Brian.  We had some work done in our kitchen and needed a stove top and vent installed. Brian remembered without me having to phone him.  He came the previous night to remove the stove top and vent.  The following day he came back to install the new unit and, get this, he stopped by to check to and see if he could install sooner.  This young man is excellent at his craft.  My family knows when Brian is in our home the work will be to perfection.  I guarantee you this -- if there is something he cannot do he will find the individual to do it for you, without your asking.  I am very adamant about workers who respect my property.  He will not leave your home in disarray.  He treats you and your property the way he would want to be treated.  This is why he is, and will always be, my GO TO ELECTRICIAN.

I phoned Brian on 11/1/12 told him what I needed and just like he said on the phone, it should take me no longer than 20 minutes.  He was on time he was pleasant, professional and courteous.  He got the job done in less that 20 minutes.  He went above and beyond the call of duty by asking if I had light bulbs, when he saw that I did not he went to his vehicle, and came back with just what I needed for the fixture.  This is a great young man and I was extremely comfortable having him in my home.  He has an excellent attitude and that is so rare today in service.  I am making Brian my electrician for life!!!!  I am telling everyone to please use this company you will not be disappointed.

Called Brian in the morning requesting need to raise a previously installed ceiling fan on our 15' high ceiling that had a 3' extension rod.  Brian had an employee somewhat nearby and we agreed on a 3 pm appointment.  Employee was delayed 45 min but Brian called to advise us.  After employee showed up and raised the fan with our new 1' rod, it was still not high enough so he removed the extension rod and secured it flush to the ceiling.  Total time was something less than an hour.  The reason to raise the fan was because the skytubes we recently installed brought in light which created a strobe effect when it passed through the revolving fan blades.

Brian is responsive, punctual, experienced, professional, and always cheerful. He arrived on time and got right to work. My husband, who was an electrician's apprentice 100 years ago, marvels at the way Brian works. While he was here, Brian noticed that another fluorescent light was flickering and upon inspection, saw that the cover was cracked and the ballast had a problem. Though Brian could have fixed the ballast, my husband decided to go to Lowe's and replace the fixture. The old one used non-standard bulbs and the covering was a bear to get off and on. Brian had to wait a few minutes, yet he did not charge us more. He is more than fair with his pricing. We will only use Brian from here on. Electrical Alternatives is the place you call for quality work by a cheerful professional who considers your needs rather than doing the most expedient thing.
