We were very excited to be able to build our forever home and when we choose Bill Clark Homes we did extensive research. When you go into the model home it is beautifully built, the finish work is exceptional and every detail is top notch. After being in our home for just a few weeks we realized that the “D” team was brought into build our home. The paint on the walls (very thin coating, you can brush it off) finish work not completed, trim work popping off, cheap door handles poorly installed and falling out of the doors leaving dents in our wood floors. We had to hold their feet to the fire to get BIll Clark to deliver on items in the contract. Bill Clark homes gives you the bare minimum of what they offer. We took all of our concerns and aliments all the way up to Heath Clark himself only to have a feudal conversation with a very dismissive and condescending company owner. We finally gave up and conceded to who we were dealing with and hired a private contractor at our cost of thousands of dollars to completely redo the master shower that Bill Clark “would” not deliver. Buyer beware

We built out home in 2016 and while our house is beautiful from the outside the list of problems has grown and grown. They were 4 months past the date we were told our home would be done. We had several mistakes made in our construction. The woman who helped us with the design side of things was not as knowledgeable as she should be when it came to features we could have added to our home. Shortly after we moved in we had several problems with our heating and air conditioning. We spent our first winter without heat several times over the winter and even had no heat on Christmas. Our second summer in our new home we had a flood in the second floor from the ac unit cause damage to our upstairs with water pouring out of the ceiling. The painters did a second rate job and the caulking was a mess. Now we are 6 months out of warranty and our ice maker in our Frigidaire freezer stoped working. The dishwasher was not working well for some time. We discovered there was a slow leak. There is no telling how long this was going on for. We noticed it when the wood flooring in our kitchen started to pop up. After lifting several of the warped boards we found terrible water damage. We have tons of water under our floors with mold and a horrible smell. The damage is throughout the entire kitchen into part of our living room. The floors will have to be replaced and we have to have a mold removal company come in. This is sure to cost us in the thousands. Since we are 6 months out or warranty this is now our burden. While the people that we have felt with in the past in the main office have been great and repairs were made in a timely fashion it is very upsetting that we have been in our “ dream home” for a year and a half and now have to have this nightmare of damage and expense and well as the fear of mold effecting our children’s health not to mention the inconvenience and mental stress this puts on us. I expected to have no real issues since this is a new construction. Yes they have fixed the things they legally had to it not something you expect to have happen when you build a new and expensive home. The model home was constructed beautifully and we had expected that level of work in our home as well. We had thought we were lucky as our neighbors home had so many problems from mold to poping up floors and after they moved in they had their house re worked on for over a year. They turned out to be they lucky ones because at least their home was still under the warranty. This level of continual damage makes us fearful of what will happen next. We are great full it’s just water damage and not a fire or something life threatening but we are also scared to think what will happen next. When you move into your dream home that you have worked and saved for your entire life you expect things to last more that 18 months nor do I think you should have to worry about the health out your family. We could not be more unhappy with what has happened and can not wait to fix the damage and sell this house. I would not recommend building with bill clark to anyone. The stress this has put on our family is so great and now it’s becoming a financial burden as well. We were fooled into thinking we were going to be getting our forever dream home that has now become our worst nightmare.

The final product ends up much better than other comparable builders in this area, but the hassle to get there makes you question your sanity and patience. This was our 3rd attempt to build with BCH as the first 2 attempts fell apart during negotiations. During our successful build process we encountered issues with incorrect plumbing (our kitchen island was 20" out of place), yard drainage (yards are backfilled with sand, if they are backfilled), wall colors (right name but wrong number = wrong color...but we signed off on the spec sheet so it's our loss), delays (9 months from contract to closure), and just questionable workmanship (later found out they operate solely on a lowest bidder quarterly process, which means there's a fair chance that who builds your home will be different than the model you may be standing in.). We thought that by being engaged in the building process that we'd avoid many potential mistakes, completely wrong. The biggest obstacle to overcome is lack of communication up-and-down the organization; the sales agent is meant to be your sole point-of-contact but has no authority, the build foreman is trying to get the home built on schedule whether its right or wrong (so the only "faces" you'll see in the process have no ability to help resolve issues as they come up). By the end in order to keep our sanity we had to limit our visits to once a week and keep a list of issues we'd notice as a 'punch sheet' to address in our final walk-through. Recommendations: 1) Be committed to the long play (if you are Type A/OCD/Controlling/Have expectations/etc., then do your best to believe that it will be worth it in the long run) 2) Read & verify EVERY detail on everything you must sign your name on...simple mistakes are made by everyone, but the outcome in this case will be that it's not BCH's fault you signed an incorrect document 3) Spend as much time surveying the lot before you submit your contract and get "promises" in writing if possible (do not trust the "we'll make it right" line), failure to do so could result in major headaches down the line (poor drainage, flooding, additional expense). After 18 months in our home, we are happy with the result, but would NEVER go through this process again with BCH...just not worth the stress and aggravation. Now that our community is completed, we're still waiting on the HOA to be turned over to the residents (5+ months and counting), we're still waiting on the final handoff of roads to the city, and now are being threatened by Mr. Heath Clark as a way to avoid resolving flooding issues for some of the homeowners.
