My wife & I chose my native Wilmington as the most ideal community to live and raise our three children. After living away for over a decade, it’s clear to me why so many others are making the same choice today. As a retired contractor, licensed home inspector and licensed real estate broker, I've developed an appreciation for the perils of home buying, and the need for informed professional advice. As a professional home inspector, I strive to impart an intuitive understanding of each home's condition with an emphasis on costly deficiencies. My goal is to provide competent support to the home buyer and their agent. Clients are encouraged to attend their home inspection and discover first-hand their prospective home's positive features, also the not-so-great features. The majority of our inspection reports are delivered the same evening, all reports are delivered within 36 hours. Our reports utilize state-of-the-art reporting software, including photographs and clear explanations. Jeff was quick and efficient. He was able to come out when needed and provided and extremely thorough report for our prospective home purchase. Buying the home from a great distance is challenging, and having a very detailed and organized report gave us so much peace of mind and it really helped us identify points we would not have been able to uncover ourselves. Worth every penny. Jeff was very professional. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality inspection. You truly do get what you pay for!

I was very pleased with Jeff's work. I spent time researching the best home inspector in town and feel confident that I got him. Like other reviews said he completed the inspection and sent a thorough report no more than 48 hours later. Took a significant amount of time after 5 pm discussing the issues with me and my fiance and showing us plenty of pictures. He let us know the things he was most concerned about and was very knowledgeable on every topic we asked him. My favorite thing was that he let me know which areas he wished he could've checked out better. Certain things I asked him about he could not fully access strictly from tight spaces or lack of visibility and as opposed to avoiding the questions or glossing over them he let me know straight up. Good guy and great work. Would definitely recommend.

If you need a home inspected, call Jeff Terry, period. Jeff came highly recommended and after hiring him, I see why. His attention to detail is amazing. I’ve never hired someone that compares to Jeff Terry in the way he is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are informed and understand all risks that may be present in a property. If a home inspection could discover an issue, Jeff Terry will find it. He focuses on each area of the house with care...where does water flow off the roof and is it flowing properly, away from the house? Are your walls soft in any places, etc. Jeff meticulously inspects every detail of a house you would expect and much more. In our case, we decided to go through with the purchase of the home after the inspection, but Jeff was pivotal in helping us reach that conclusion. This is the second time we used Jeff Terry for our home inspection. On the first home he inspected he found many issues that led us to not go ahead with the transaction. The Sellers were not truthful in their disclosure and we were real glad we hired Jeff who pointed out these issues a common person would not be able to pick up on. Although we were disappointed we feel we made the right choice. Jeff just performed an inspection on our future new home and as expected found some issues that can be dealt with between us and the sellers. He is a true professional and takes the time to explain everything he found during the inspection and what needed to be done to remediate them. I would highly recommend him to anyone purchasing a home.

I researched home inspectors thoroughly before I selected Jeff with Above Par. I can say without hesitation that I made the right choice. Jeff was very professional from the first email throughout the whole process. He arrived early and went over the property with a fine tooth comb. He showed us dozens of photos and explained the things he found in terms we could understand. His first class report was ready the next evening. I honestly cannot imagine anyone else doing a better job. I had an Angie's list coupon but I was so pleased with his work that I didn't even mention it. After the inspection, Jeff answered some questions I had about what he found and also sent me the digital photos so I could see them better. You won't go wrong with Above Par Home Inspections. And if you are on the fence wondering if you should get an inspection done or not, DO IT. There are so many things that need to be checked and you need a pro like Jeff to check them out.

Jeff's walk through and written reports are nothing short of utterly professional and easily understood. He is a wealth of knowledge and conveys complex information in an easy to understand manner. Jeff, from Above Par Home Inspection, didn't miss a beat, even with cold rainy weather during our home inspection. He arrived at the time he had set the appointment and explained in detail what he would be doing. He had sent emails prior to the date of the appointment reviewing what would be done and pricing. He spent several hours inside and outside my home detailing with photos and notes areas needing repair or replacement. He is very detail oriented and can explain in laymen's terms issues needing attention. He was available the few times I called him and answered the phone, not even having to leave a voicemail. The inspection report exceeded my expectations with clear photos and concise details regarding areas of needed attention. He found several areas that needed to be repaired/replaced that neither my husband nor I would have known about. My husband and I had considered just turning in a list of small items that we wanted done before the year warranty was up, but are so glad we did the professional inspection with Jeff. He was up on a ladder checking minute details in flashing and shingles and attic insulation/ventilation that I never would have thought to check. He got the report back to my husband and I within hours of the inspection and was available to discuss by phone any questions we had. I feel confident that Jeff didn't miss anything during the inspection and that we will enjoy our home for years to come with peace that our house was built and completed property. I look forward to advising my neighbors and other friends to use Above Par Home Inspection as their preferred advisor for a complete inspection.

Jeff was very helpful and personable. He was there at the house for a long time before we arrived to make sure all the details were covered. He was professional and polite when we arrived, and gave us the full disclosure of what to expect during the inspection and afterword. Jeff was able to answer all of our questions and covered everything we were anticipating asking about before we had the chance. In the final report, which arrived very quickly, all the details were in sync with what he had described to us and all the pictures provided were clear and helpful. There was nothing unexpected or out of place that he failed to mention or go over with us while we were on site. This interaction has made the entire home buying process easier and quicker, and thank Jeff and Above Par for the ace service. Highly Recommended!

I used Jeff to complete a home inspection and found him to be extremely thorough and very detail oriented. The report that Jeff provided was very concise and provided the detailed information needed to obtain concessions from the seller to cover the costs of the repairs that were identified.

Most people would state that a new construction buyer inspection is not required, please get one done.
This highly experienced professional spent several hours going through the house, crawl space to the roof, many issues were found, some major.
The report was delivered quickly and with a great level of detail, including photographs of the issues or potential problems.
Based on our review of the home and our confidence in Above Par's inspection, we feel smart in walking away from the purchase.

Jeff Terry did a very thorough and comprehensive home inspection on a house we were considering purchasing. His fee was reasonable considering the time and effort that went into the inspection. My wife and I were present during the process and were impressed with how methodical he was. He completely inspected and tested all home systems. He took all the time necessary to evaluate the house--roof to crawl space. Where issues of concern were found Jeff took many photographs and included these in his report along with recommendations for solutions. The finished report was available in 24 hrs. as promised. Being a knowledgeable DIY'er for many years I would highly recommend Jeff to anyone considering a home purchase and would call on him again should the need arise. Very impressive!

Jeff was very professional, and did an outstanding job!. The price was very reasonable for the insane amount of work he put into our home inspection. He spent hours going through our new prospective home. We thought the home was perfect and would not need any work! Turns out we were so wrong, there were so many flaws hidden beneath the walls and under the floors, and we are so thankful that Jeff was there to discover them for us. He was so great to deal with, and spent so much time sorting through our prospective home, we knew by the time he was done if anything was wrong we would know. He even put together a complete portfolio of everything in the home that we needed to be concerned with, which not only contained pictures with highlighted areas of repairs but also a quick synapses at the end of all the needed repairs throughout the report, which made it really easy to go through with the sellers. We really appreciated his services because he didn't just highlight what he thought was important, he told us everything that was wrong whether or not he would have considered it high importance himself. My husband and I were so relieved that we found out early what was wrong with the home, Jeff saved us form making a quarter million dollar mistake! It was the best money we every spent!

Jeff was very thorough and actually stayed longer than he had planned.
He found many things that needed my attention after we bought the house, and a couple of things that we were able to get the sellers to repair before we bought.

Jeff went above and beyond throughout the entire process, from scheduling the appointment to providing the inspection report - always exceeding my expectations. He was very personable, and both my family and I enjoyed learning from him during the inspection. He was generous with his time and patiently explained the various issues he identified in the home - and there were a LOT of issues.
