I am the owner and do my own field work, CADD mapping as well as research. Any assistants of mine on the job have years of experience so all work is performed by highly qualified personnel. Since I bring my Laptop computer with me, a lot of times if a printer is available I can provide the customer their map before leaving the jobsite. When Invoices are sent through email, a link is provided to pay with a credit card, in addition I have a reader to accept a credit card on site.

"Mr. Cavenaugh is the most professional, courteous, tactful, punctual, and positive contractor that I have ever met. He has integrity, character, and is extremely honest. He went above and beyond what he was hired to do. If you want a contractor that is not out to swindle you, or play frivilous mind games, "PLEASE HIRE VERNIE!" I will recommend him to any and everyone who does not have time for these dumb scams. We are so grateful to God that we found Vernie on Angie's List. There are only a few good men left. Mr. Cavenaugh is one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His invoice, his maps and equipment - Surperb! I have one request for Vernie, DO NOT GO OUT OF BUSINESS!"

Land Surveying questions, answered by experts

Before property transactions or major improvements to ensure accuracy.

To prepare for a land survey, you must thoroughly check your land surveyor’s qualifications, reviews, and fees to align with your expectations. When it is time for the survey to be conducted, ensure that you have all your documents organized and available, know and mark your property lines, and inform your neighbors that the survey is happening.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.

A land survey includes the layout of a single property, including precise measurements and to-scale drawings of boundary lines, land improvements, and sometimes other features, like topography and drainage information. A plat map includes the layouts and boundary lines of several adjacent plots and basic structure measurements. Surveys are normally more valuable for homeowners and buyers, and plat maps are for governmental use.
