Shane was recommended to me 3 years ago for piano moving by a local restoration expert. The price was very fair and most importantly the work was impeccable. Last year I had the opportunity to trade up my piano for a new one so I visited both locations and tried several models. This is a business with the highest standards of service, not only during the sale, but ongoing. I . continue to have Shane tune the piano. His standards are extremely high, and I give my recommendation with complete confidence.

(writing this review a 2nd time because I recently joined the Asheville area and now it should be properly linked with the store)...
Every experience I've had working with Piano Emporium has been good, from getting advice on restoring an old piano, to purchasing a piano, to tuning. Shane is extremely knowledgeable. He was very patient and really worked with us to find a great piano for our price range. We bought a used piano, and he was able to tell us about the mechanisms, sound, and advantages and disadvantages of every one he had in the shop. He followed up several times to make sure we were happy with everything, and we are.

This was my second move using this company, and I'll never call anyone else! The first time they moved my piano, they charged $175 to move from a first-floor to a street-level basement apartment (going down a few stairs). Just a few weeks ago I moved again and it cost a bit more to have three guys push it up the stairs to get it out (it is extremely heavy) and into another first-floor home. Both moves were completed in under an hour, driving less than a mile between homes. They are courteous, professional and prompt, arriving about 15 minutes early for both appointments. They have all the equipment and experience to provide an efficient and low-stress piano move. I can't recommend them highly enough! :)

They sent 3 movers to a home of a friend in Black Mountain. The loaded an upright piano and took it to my home in Candler, NC. They were very careful and you could tell experienced in moving pianos. There wasn't any damage to the piano.
They were very fair and honest in the pricing. The quote over the phone was approximately $200. This was give or take until seen by the movers. It also depended on the amount of steps the movers would have to climb carrying a 700 lb. piano in the event they could not use the ramp off the truck. I have 12 steps entering my house from the front yard. They movers decided the best way was to walk a longer path up a slight incline through the back of the house. They avoided the upcharge which was very fair. They did was best for the me, the consumer.

The staff is very friendly, and they know what they are doing. They not only sell pianos, but restore them, so they know them inside and out--very helpful when it came to picking out a used piano--they knew the quirks of each one, why each one sounded a certain way, etc. Shane worked diligently with us on advising a possible restoration and then later to find us a great piano that fit our budget. They follow up, too, to make sure you are happy. Delivery was quick and they were very careful with the instrument. Highly recommended.

We were looking for an upright piano for our daughter and wanted a good sound but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a new piano. The Piano Emporium specializes in refurbishing pianos. They were very responsive to our price range and showed a good understanding of our needs. I called them in early- mid December with only a couple of weeks before December 25th. We looked at the pianos recommended online before going to Weaverville to see them. We sealed the deal and they worked around the biggest snow storm in 50 years to get it to us by Christmas. It is a beautiful instrument and a well-loved member of the family. The owner's son even came to help out! They have fulfilled every promise. I would recommend the Piano Emporium without reservation.

This was an excellent experience. Making the appointment was easy, he arrived on time, and completed the work promptly. He provided good feedback about future tunings. Most impressively, he fixed the broken music rack (which I had been told by a previous piano tuner could not be fixed) and did not charge me. Shane is pleasant, knowledgeable and professional.

The piano was delivered from NY in a moving van when I relocated to NC. The owner waited on a day off for many hours for the truck to arrive and help direct unloading at the shop. I had requested the piano be refinished in a shorter period of time so I could surprise my mother with the newly finished piano, it was hers originally, and they met my delivery date. The piano looks brand new, or better! After the piano was delivered I had a stuck key, which they promptly came to the house to check out. It was actually not stuck when they arrived due to my turning on my AC during hot August days and this remedied the problem. I am thrilled to have found this gem of a shop, who not only restores pianos, sells new and old pianos, tunes them but offers lessons. I will be a customer for as long as they are in business.
