John the service tech was very responsive, professional and fixed our issue. My wife and I just moved in the day before and the AC went out on a Sat Night. I called first thing Sunday morning and John had up and running my noon.

I bought a condo and a week later the heat pump conked out, in the middle of having workers in there doing renovations, in the hottest week of the year so far. It was intolerable. I called several places, and they were booked up. Aire Serv said they could send somebody the next day--and they did. He fixed the problem, explained exactly what was wrong, showed me other things that were on the verge of causing more trouble, and set up a return visit to get those taken care of. I was impressed enough that I signed up for their twice-yearly maintenance program. I have no idea how their prices compare to others, because I went with the first company that could respond quickly--and under the circumstances I was happy to get them, whatever the cost.

They did the inspection and told my son the capacitor/booster were under spec and needed upgrading. So they charged $800 to replace two $15 parts to little time to replace.

The Tech was very informative, checked everything, and confirmed installation was done correctly by builder, although it was too cold to inspect the Air Con, which I will have done in warmer weather. The Tech called and arrived on time, was neat and efficient, and careful with my home.

THE GOOD: The technician with Aire Serve did a wonderful job. He was very professional and very thorough in his review. He found three parts that were bad and needed to be replaced because they were not functioning fully. He cleaned up the unit and it runs more quietly now. I am quite happy about his inspection and tune up of our system. THE BAD: The total repair estimate for those three parts, two of which were already pulled out, was over $700 with tax (two capacitors and a contactor). I declined the repair and he put the old parts back in (he was a really nice guy and I hated to do that to him). I contacted a local parts store and was able to get the parts for less than $75. Seeing that two out of three parts were already pulled from the system, Aire Serve was charging over $600 in labor for a job that would have only taken an extra 10-20 minutes of his time. I would have been more than happy to give them the job if they had been reasonable. Unfortunately, I now have to find someone who is reasonably priced to put the new parts in.
