We contacted Doug after hearing good reviews on a FB. We needed our sprinklers turned on for the season and our previous company didn’t winterize properly and the main valve broke over the winter. They came within a few days and replaced the valve for $500 but the sprinklers were not properly tested —so some were facing the wrong way into the ground. I called back and was scheduled several times (5) and they no showed and didn’t call. I finally spoke to the owner and he assured me both he and someone else would be there. His worker did come but he did not. He did not have time to do some of the work and I was told they would come back with a crew within the the week. They didn’t show up again. I texted earlier this week and received a text today saying they were too busy and would not come. Now I have a big hole in my yard that they started but will not finish.

We have a lot of squirrels in our neighborhood, all of whom apparently have a particular penchant for satisfying their hydration needs from my drip lines! I've called Water Savers three times this summer to repair the resultant geysers, and each time, they were here within hours! Awesome service. And after new water mains serving my community were installed, they came out again (once more, within hours) to install a valve feeding water to a drip line to reduce water pressure in the line (which was continually blowing out T-connections, resulting in yet more geysers. Price indicated was for four trips and numerous drip line breaks)

2016 repair / replacement was good. Was told in Spring of 2018 they were too busy to come look at the problem. Called / texted with no response August 2018. If you want to be my irrigation company for the big expensive jobs, I need you to be available for the smaller jobs too. I would not recommend.

He was on-time and after an inspection found out I had some other problems. He and his staff repaired/replaced the weeping valve an added a new zone for my raised garden boxes.

Tried to rebuild the valve.  Would not stop leaking.  Wound up replacing.  Due to age of valves and desire to upgrade, replaced all 4 valves in the box.  Came when they said they would.  Did good work.

Very well. First estimate included extensive addition of ornamental plants and shrubs to areas of yard I felt would not benefit the landscaping or add to value of home as viewed from street. The estimate was well structured so additions/deletions could be handled easily. Workers and owner (Doug) showed up right on time after reminder call to schedule the job. Doug is a consummate professional and easy to deal with. His workers are conscientious and courteous. The work was completed on schedule and cleanup was excellent.

One of the things I discovered in talking with Doug was that he provides health insurance for his workers. This in itself was a credit to him and his business and in the event I was considering another company to perform this work, I would have opted for Water Saver Irrigation. Doug will also handle call backs to make any necessary adjustments to the landscaping, including moving of plants without a lot of hassle or wanting to charge additional monies within reason. The new plants, shrubs, trees were all healthy and come with a 1 year guarantee so I was comfortable with the quality of his nursery/sources. One thing I am not sure of is how much of a markup is applied from the nursery prices for the plants and the price he charged me.

All in all a good experience.

Dont remember the exact amount spent, but do remember how he wasn't the cheapest, but assured us he was the best and well known in the Waxhaw community, so we used him. Everything was fine on the install, and he did come back and seed when no grass came back where the sprinkle had been installed. The problem arose when, at the end of the season, he came back to my mother's house and took apart her system, and winterized it without being asked to. This service was never requested, needed, or required, as a family member had already told our mother they would do it because her budget was so tight. She had paid him because she was afraid it would ruin her credit. When we called and discussed with Doug, although he seemed annoyed (which was quite interesting since we never asked for this service!), and said he would refund the amount he had charged and put the piece back he had taken off the system. He of course never sent the refund, or took care of this. It would be like someone installing a sprinkler you never asked for, didn't have the money for, and then sending you a bill, and threatening to send you to collections!!!! I would NEVER recommend Doug Viele to anyone - what he did was shady, dishonest, to say the least.

In 2009 we used Water Saver Irrigation (Doug Viele) to install a Landscape Lighting system in our front yard. Prior to awarding the work, we did on-line research, we checked with several companies and we obtained three written quotations. Additionally, without obligation, Doug came out and set up a "demonstration" system (with temporary above-ground wiring) so that we could see the effect at night: this was very helpful. Doug's quote was the best, based on price, quality of the equipment and reputation. Doug and his team did an excellent job of installation and positioning, for the best effect. Doug came back after dark to check the effect and to make some positioning adjustments. Since then, the only thing we have had to do is replace a few bulbs. In October 2011 we had Doug install another spot light onto the current system.
Doug's (Water Saver Irrigation)'s main business is Lawn Irrigation (for which we thoroughly recommend them), but check them out for Landscape Lighting too, as our experience with them has been excellent.

The process went great. I called Doug and left a message and within 15 minutes he called me back and stated himself someone would be there by end of day the next day. I was surprised to see that someone was out and had it repaired all before 9am which about 14 hours since we spoke. couldn't be more pleased with the services provided in all their work they have done!

Overall, it went terrific. They came when they said they would, and it was clean, and it did what it said it would do. The pump itself is very quiet, and I have to check to make sure it is still working. The pump saves around 10,000 gallons a year.

The system works, but I would say that the aftercare and communication is somewhat lacking. It was difficult to get him to come back to maintain the system, although he did come back to turn it on. I am not sure if I would actually use them again.

I was unable to turn on the water because of the drought, but when we did just recently, it was not working properly. We had to have him back out twice, and were recharged for the service call each time. The first job was $600-$700, and the service call was $100 each time.

He is very good, and he always does what he's supposed to do. I would never have any complaints about him. I really like the service. He is one of the best repairmen I use for anything.

Contacted Doug and told him that I wanted all flowerbeds converted to drip and that's exactly what he did. He came back in about 2 weeks, got the work done in a couple of days, the bill was as discussed and he kept me informed. There was some unfortunate disruption to the existing grass- but that always happens with this type of work. I am very pleased that I can now keep my landscaping alive and watered.

Basically, I like the fact that he does communicate well. He does call when he is going to come or if he cannot make it that day. Things do get done. He may be expensive, but I feel like I do get what I pay for. I do think that he is very knowledgeable and professional. He does not leave the job half done. He finishes it and that is important. We haven't really had the time to be sure that everything is being covered now, but I think that it is. It is a work in progress, unless you never change things in your garden.

Doug spent more time explaining the project to me than any of the other firms I spoke with. He walked me through the exact equipment to be used, the layout, and specifics about water pressure, operations, etc. He explained that he wanted to install it the right way the first time, and I believe he did. I would recommend him to those looking to add an irrigation system that will be most efficient. Doug and his team completed the work on schedule, and within a few weeks after the original quote. Water Saver Irrigation's quote was also the lowest of 3 firms I looked into.

There service is not good. They made several bad mistakes that they had to correct, which cost double for me. They used the old pipes, and when they turned it on it went into the street, my porch and a large portion of my yard. He wouldn't fix it, he said that is how it was. He added on a part that I didn't want. It was something for me to be able to turn the irrigation system on from inside the house. Of course that cost a bit, but I had told him I didn't want it and they put it on anyways. They gave me no instruction on how to work it or anything else. He promised to bring the instruction books to me. I called about 4 times, but he never did bring them. I will never use the company.

"MY COMPANY REPAIRS AND SERVICES EXISTING IRRIGATION SYSTEM. MY COMPANY CAME INTO A SITUATION WHERE THE SYSTEM WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED DO TO A INSTALLATION OF A WATER LINE IN WHICH WE DID NOT INSTALL. WE REPAIRED AND LEFT THE JOB WITH EVERYTHING WORKING. WE USED ALL NEW MATERIALS ON THE JOB AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE RECEIVED COMMUNICATION FROM THIS CLIENT SINCE WE DID THE REPAIR BACK IN JUNE AND SHE RESPONDED LIKE THIS IN LATE OCTOBER. IF THERE ANY PROBLEMS DURING THAT TIME OF COMPLAINT WE WOULD HAVE TAKING CARE OF THE CUSTOMER AND ITS NEEDS. MY COMPANY TOOK THE TIME AND HIRED FOR THIS CLIENT A CERTIFIED PLUMBER TO REPAIR WHAT WAS INSTALLED TO HER HOUSE ON HER WATER LINE THAT WAS INSTALLED BY A OTHER COMPANY. WE NOTICED A FEW NON CODE ISSUES ON HER DOMESTIC WATER AND ALERT THIS CLIENT OF THIS MATTER."

Doug was running late for our scheduled appointment time, but called to let me know. Doug was friendly and professional and taught me about my irrigation system. When repairing my irrigation system, Doug informed me that I could submit the invoice to the cable company for the damage they had done to my irrigation system. Doug suggested I took pictures in case the cable company needed evidence and Doug broke down the bill, so that I could distinguish between the cost of regular servicing to the system vs. the cost attributed to the cable company. This made it easier for me to be reimbursed by the cable company.
