We were very satisfied with the entire process.  Gary Palmer was easy to work with. The final cost was in line with the original proposal.  The work was completed in the timeframe that Gary outlined in the original proposal.  We felt very comfortable with Gary's crew and all of his sub contractors.  The quality of the work performed was excellent and the new room looks great and looks like it was always a part of the house.  We are extremely satisfied and would not hesitate to use Palmer Custom Builders again.

Palmer Custom Builders built us a beautiful new custom home on our wooded lot in Waxhaw. We began planning in August 2012 and completion date was projected to be mid-June 2013.  There were numerous changes to make it exactly what we needed, a custom retirement dream home with adaptations for my handicapped husband.  Halls and entries are wider, the garage is at kitchen level, the showers, sinks and toilets are equipped for handicapped persons.  It is truly a dream home, easy to maintain, room to entertain our family and friends, and so light and airy.

Communications with Gary Palmer went above and beyond all expectations.  He promised a completion date and he stuck to it, in spite of unprecedented rain this year.  He was working with a new building code which went into effect in January and he had to make some revisions and schedule additional inspections.  He still maintained the schedule he had set with me.  We lived four hours away but he kept in touch with photos and drawings in between our visits to the site.  He planned far ahead so I didn't have to make a lot of decisions toward the end of the process.  As part of the contract he included a wonderful designer who helped me with the design decisions.  I love the results as I continue to make decorating choices.

My decision to use Palmer Custom Builders was greatly influenced by their extensive website.  I replied to several builders and never heard from any of the rest.  I heard from Gary Palmer the day after I submitted my online inquiry.  That speed and efficiency was his way of working from start to finish and I can't say enough about the quality and care all of his own staff and his subcontractors showed throughout the project and after our occupancy as we encountered  only a few very minor problems.
After this experience I consider Gary and Pam Palmer trusted friends.  My son was so impressed that he had Gary Palmer do a renovation project at his home a block from ours that turned out beautifully for their family with minimum disruption to their daily lives.

I was given a 10 week schedule of what would happen. The work was done during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The work was completed on time and the work was done correctly. I would use them again. Gary Palmer made sure all of the sub-contractors were on time and did the work up to his standards.You pay for what you get.

I WAS TOLD BY THE LEE WHO INSPECTED MY NEW HOUSE THAT MY MASTER BATH FLOOR NEEDED 2 NEW JOISTS, NEW LEDGER BOARDS, AND NEW FLOORING,IT WAS ENTIRELY ROTTED OUT, HE RECOMMENDED GARY. GARY CAME OUT AND WENT UNDER THE MASTER BATH. HE SAID, "YES, I SEE ALL THE DAMAGE YOU AND LEE TALKED ABOUT (REPEATED LIST LEE GAVE ME)AND CAN FIX THIS AND EVERYTHING ELSE FOR $1600. IT TURNS OUT THE INSPECTOR SAID MASTER BATH WHEN HE MEANT MAIN BATH. GARY NEVER EVEN SAW THE DAMAGE AND YET WAS QUOTING ME TO FIX A BATH THAT DIDN'T NEED TO BE FIXED! LATER IN THE WEEK HE REALIZED THE MISTAKE WHEN HIS GUYS CALLED HIM AND HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE $1100 MORE. HE THEN JACKED THE PRICE UP ANOTHER $250 FOR "HIDDEN DAMAGE" WHEN BILLED! HIS GUYS DIDN'T SHOW UP WHEN GARY SAID, THEY CAME HOURS LATE AND LEFT AT 3 EACH DAY. GARY NEVER CALLED BACK WHEN I CALLED TO COMPLAIN I HAD WAITED HERE FOR 3 HOURS EACH DAY! SHODDY WORK! GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, PRICING ITEMIZED, DEMAND A SET WORK SCHEDULE, AND PUT IN A MONETARY PENALTY

THEY FOUND THAT THE ORIGINAL BUILDER HAD NOT INSTALLED FLASHING UNDER SOME OF THE FRENCH DOORS AND IT HAD ROTTED OUT. THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT WAS FOR $2500, BY THE TIME HE WAS DONE IT WAS $7400, AND HE NEVER GAVE ANY INDICATION IT WOULD BE THIS MUCH. WHILE THEY WERE HERE HIS WORKMEN TURNED ON THE CEILING FAN IN THE MASTER BEDROOM, AFTER HAVING BEEN TOLD NOT TO BECAUSE IT WAS LOOSE. THE SECOND DAY THEY TURNED IT ON AGAIN, AND IT CAME DOWN. THE OWNER TOLD ME TO GO BUY ONE AND THEY WOULD PUT IT UP. I DID SO, THEN HE TOLD ME AFTER THE FACT THAT HE WOULD ONLY CHARGE ME $125 INSTEAD OF $200 TO PUT IT UP. THIS IS NOT A SMALL OR CHEAP FAN TO REPLACE, AND I DID NOT ASK HIM TO REPLACE, JUST PUT IT BACK UP. THEY WERE ALSO CONSISTENTLY LATE FOR WORK, AND BRAZEN IN ENTERING MY HOME, THEY WOULD ENTER AND WALK THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE WITHOUT ASKING OR INVITATION.

VERY PLEASED WITH HIM & HIS PRICE WAS REASONABLE. SOMETIMES HE WAS DIFFICULT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH, BUT HE CAME WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD.
