Rick Shockley spent a long time diagnosing and fixing a very puzzling problem -- CD tray not recognized. After digging down far enough, he found that all the SATA devices had been turned off. He fixed this and replaced the CD tray, and also added a tray for DVDs.
On the second occasion, took my PC to his shop in Waxhaw, where he replaced the CD/DVD tray in my laptop computer, installed a compatible version of Windows on my old desktop computer, and fixed the sound and hardware acceleration, neither of which had worked before.
He is congenial, patient, listens to what we say, and is certified by Microsoft. I would highly recommend him to anyone in the areas of Waxhaw and the Charlotte area.

Rick was prompt in replying to our call, and he scheduled a time very quickly to come to our house.
He went through some diagnostics. He found that he would have to bring the correct CD/DVD drive back because the computer is older and took a different one than he had in hand. He came back the next day. When he was installing and checking things, he ran into a problem he said had never happened before. He kept trying to find the solution until he was successful. He was good at explaining what he found and what he was going to do. He tested everything to make sure all the parts were working because all the components were new.
We were impressed with Rick's friendliness, the care he took while he was working, his efficiency, his knowledge, and his interest. He actually spent more time on our job than he charged us for, which was kind. We have had no problems with the computer setup since he worked on it, which was nice because we'd had about a month of computer problems and failures before he came!

Rick was great to deal with on the phone when I was setting up the appointment and describing what problems I was having with my network. He was here the next day and did everything he said -- no surprises. He was wonderful to deal with. Great personality and very patient. The overall experience was great. I called him after he did all the work to ask a separate question nothing to do with the work down at the house. He was great and looked into my situation. Told me he would get back to me within a day and was true to form.
I would highly recommend his services to anyone. He was just a great guy and close by and also gave me a warranty on the work he performed without an additional fee.

Since the plug in the side of the laptop was jiggly and loose, I thought for sure it was the DC jack on the inside. Rick ordered the part for me. When it came in, I went down to his shop with the laptop. He wanted to make sure it wasn't the power cord before he opened up the laptop,so he tried a universal power cord. It charged, no problem. I just needed a new power cord after all. So after ordering a part I didn't need, he didn't even charge me anything for the part or his time. He seems like a very honest and fair guy, and I would highly recommend him. Besides repairs, he also does data transfers.

I had a computer that was about 4 years old and every time my wife or I would do a Google search and click on one of the searches we would get redirected to some other site, anything from a yellow page to some p*** site. After a 6-7 months and a lot of money to try and get this fix (Norton, StopZilla, Geek help and many many others) I finally said get rid of this junk and get a new computer. Well now in February of this year with my bran new HP computer a couple of weeks later my wife and I are off to do some Google searches and wouldn"t you know it that darn redirect was back again. Did the whole bit Norton, StopZilla, Malware, Geek Squad with many phone calls a lot of time holding and no help, it was fustrating. So now I said I am going to call someione local that I fill can help me or at least if not it was not going to cost me, so I found Shocknet they were new but when I called I spoke with Rick, the owner I was impressed with confidence that he could resolve this for me once and for all. Shocknet is in Waxall, NC I am in Huntersville, NC about 30 miles apart, Rick said no problem for a $5 charge he will come to Huntersville and pick the PC up and so we set a meeting time in Huntersville, he came picked up the machine and away he went. Oh by the way before I called Rick my new PC was so bad that I now could not even connect to the Internet. The next day, Ithink it was Saturday I went to his place and picked the PC up after he cleaned some viruses up which he said was not bad at all he seen a lot worst then mine. Now I go home and right away I try to do some searches and right back where I was with the redirecting again, I was furious and fustrated I emailed Rick and explained that the redirecting was still there, he had me try some addition virus checking that he installed on the PC and to let him know the results. Monday I called Rick and told him nothing worked he said he would pick up the PC and do some additional checking. A couple of days later he said he does not have any problem with redirecting and that my problem was with a virus in the router. Sure like I am going to belive that this is a joke but I am desparte and I want to have the PC fix so I said to myself I will go and buy a new router (my rcurrentouter was only a year old) but I bought a new one anyway. Installed the new router and WOW no redirect, put back the old router and redirect was there, then I reset my old router back to factory settings by pressing a button with a paper clip reinstalled that old router and the redirect was still there, put back the new router and the redirect was gone!!!! Called Rick and explain he was right and ask how much did I owe hime for the multiple pick ups and many virus scrubings and he said I owe him nothing.
