 + 0 moreWe were extremely satisfied with the job. Workers were supervised by Ken Abbott, appeared for work when scheduled, and completed their work in the time span quoted.
Description of Work: Abbott added a 14 ft. x 27 ft. screened porch with a 6:12 pitch roof to match the existing roof on the main part of our house. The porch was built according to our specifications: vaulted beadboard ceiling; vinyl siding on back wall of house replaced with headboard; heavy-duty polyester coated super screen; overhead lights and dual fan; overhanging soffits and jumbo downspouts; crown molding with rope lighting; electrical switches, outlets and can lights; kiln-dried columns; ceiling painted blue and all else white.

 + 0 moreThey were thoroughly professional, as well as being cheerful! Ken & his helper Dave were just VERY nice people. Everything we asked for was done. When we asked them for opinions on various items connected the the porch, once they were sure we wanted them, they gave them. They helped us to improve our plans. They work with other contractors for painting and a few other services. Abbott Builders came by to check out the work done by those people. One day the other contractors had missed cleaning up some of their supplies and when Ken saw it he said "don't worry about it, I will send someone over to clean it up" and he did. We had a punch list at the end of a few small items that needed to be tweaked and it was taken care of within a week.
Description of Work: Abbott Builders put a gabled roofed porch on our house, with easy breeze windows, 2 sky lights and 2 fans, off of our second story living room. First they had to rip down and haul away the old deck.

 + -1 moreWe are extremely happy with the result. Ken and his crew delivered an excellent product. We did run into a soil problem midway through the project, of course not the fault of Abbott builders just an unfortunate circumstance. This added significant cost to the project due to mandates about foundation design, etc. Also resulted in a substantial landscaping investment to clean up the damage to the yard. All of this mentioned only so others can plan for additional costs that might be incurred beyond just the deck build.
Description of Work: Removed existing deck; rebuilt much larger deck including a screened porch and storage area underneath.

Description of Work: Met Ken at a home show (at Metrolina) was seeking info on replacing an existing wood deck w/ composite. Ken was very helpful; he asked good questions. Emailed him for a site visit/estimate. He was prompt, polite & professional - both my husband and I felt at ease w/ Ken in our home. Got the estimate for the deck (well w/in our range) and he was very flexible when I asked at last minute for estimate on replacing 2 posts & railing sections on front deck as well. We were slated for April time slot. Ken called last week and asked if we could adjust and let him do the job this week instead "you betcha!" Demolition and removal of all old deck done in one day. Materials delivered, new deck installed (composte "EverGrain" w/ metal railing) & again, flexible (we needed access to an area under the deck...w/ Ken's help instead of a trap door...we built an angled "L's" around the section --- much better esthetically & maintained integrity of the deck) and new vinyl covered, metal interior pillars and nice new pickets/railings on the front porch. No mess...no debris. Ken and his able right hand guy Marshall were a complete delight. Professional, prompt, polite...priceless. LOVE the new deck...love how our front porch looks. On time (well, actually a head of schedule) , on budget (even w/ the minor adjustments we asked for) and headache free. If you need a deck, a porch ...Ken Abbott is your guy. And he is the guy that shows up to to the estimate, the design, orders the supplies and then does the work & cleans up. You'll feel safe having Ken and Marshall in your home/working on your home. We could not be happier!!

 + 2 moreKen Abbott was a delight to work with. We talked to several contractors before settling on Ken to build our screened porch. As part of that process, we spoke with 3 references and all reported that their job was professionally done and that they were pleased with Ken's work. Ken was reasonable with his quote relative to others we talked to and yet did not underbid materials or cost. We appreciated his opinions on several aspects of the design and materials and went with his recommendations. He also listened to what we wanted rather than try and talk us into things we didn't want. (Unlike some of the other contractors.) Ken managed all aspects of the work, including subcontractors as needed and scheduling all county inspections. He always communicated when he would be onsite, always showed up when expected, and made sure the site was cleaned up every day before he left. As you can see in the photos, all materials including soffits, siding, paint, gutters, shingles, etc. were matched to the house according to HOA regulations. The overall finish is professional and we've received many positive comments from neighbors and friends. We would highly recommend Ken as a contractor!
Description of Work: Built 12' x 15' screened-in porch attached to existing house. Included adding wood deck floor, aluminum baluster wainscoting, stained floor and ceiling, screened door, and electrical - ceiling fan mount and switch, switched interior receptacles, and exterior receptacle.
