There are a few professions in this world that get a very bad rap, with one being auto mechanics.  As I am relatively new to the area, I am unfamiliar with the local auto shops in Raleigh/Wake Forest.  As I was looking for a mechanic that is familiar with Datsun Z cars, I found a review of Rodney's Shop, Import Auto Pro on Angie's list.  As I recently received the Z car as a Christmas gift, I spoke with Rodney regarding the reconditioning of the vehicle, which included new suspension, brakes, bushings, exhaust, bearings, etc.  The work performed was top notch, and the car drives great!  The price was less then what I expected and he even did some other services, such as adjusting the carbs, choke, etc. at no charge.
As I was pleased with his work, I have since taken the car back for other work that needed to be done on the car.  He adjusted the clutch and changed out a faulty Master Brake vac.  Car runs great!
I have been to many mechanics through the years, and I have had varying experiences, regarding knowledge, pricing and honesty.  I will say that Rodney is very honest, and certainly knows how to diagnose a car which has become a lost science in this day and age.  Although his company says Import Auto Pro, I noticed that he works on American (Domestic) vehicles as well although it appears that he has a passion is working on BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan and of course Datsun Z cars!  His labor rates are extremely reasonable with his hourly rate being well below the dealerships.  I have recommended this shop to a few of my friends, and all have been pleased with his service and pricing.

My Toyota is 12 or 13 years old, and it doesn't take a dealer to move it along. It is a less expensive car at a different stage of life. I have less expectations, and the prices are lower.  They have been punctual.

Dropped off the car before they closed and they called me in the morning letting me know it was fixed.  It could have been any number of things based on the diagnostic code but turned out to be a cracked oil dipstick letting air seep in and causing an imbalance.  I was happy with everything and will bring my cars there for service in the future.

I took my car to a couple other places and they couldn't figure it out. Rodney at Import Auto Pro did the work and it went very well. They also did work on my A/C and a tune-up. I would definitely use them again.

They are honest and reasonable. Their price is way cheaper than the dealer. In fact, it's more than half. They provide awesome service. Sometimes I hear a noise and it will be something stupid like I don't have power steering fluid in it, they will put it in and they didn't even charge me. The only drawback is they don't have loaner services or transportation to home.

In one word, HONEST.  I dropped my 2003 Highlander off for diagnostics and repair for "grinding noise" and to look over the whole vehicle for safety & reliability issues.  I have not been particularly maintenance conscious about anything except oil changes and tires so Chuck could have soaked me.  Instead, he said all that really needed to be done was brakes.  Timing belt was recommended, and I already knew that was due so had that done.  He quoted me an installed price several hundred dollars less than I was expecting.  Upon pick-up he said it might need a new battery due to slow starting.  Since I could not remember ever replacing the battery and it was still a Toyota battery, we marveled at its longevity and swapped that baby out for new.  He also mentioned that I have a slow leak in one tire.  He filled it a couple times and each time it didn't hold air well.  He asked if I have a tire place and I do so I just took it there for my free flat fix, no problem.  I'm very thankful that he alerted me to the issue before I found out the hard way.  All in all, this place is a gem.  People came in and greeted Chuck by name so it seems he has a loyal clientele and I can see why.  I was treated with respect and the whole transaction was very professional and friendly from start to finish.  I picked up several of his cards and will recommend Chuck and Import Auto Pro to anyone who needs service or repair. I'll definitely go back for any future needs.

Took my daughters Nissan Altima in for a problem starting, they figured out that the crankshaft and camshaft sensors were the problem and replaced them. I have also had them do work on Mitsubishi and Toyota cars. They have always done a great job and the price is reasonable.

He is very good at what he does.  His prices are extremely reasonable.  If we go to other places that service high-end cars like a BMW the prices are outrageous.  He is just like going to a normal mechanic, but he is also very good at what he does.  He has good diagnostic services.  If we say we don’t know what is making those sounds he immediately knows what that is.  We have even recommended him to friends.

I've been using these guys for a few years now for both the Nissan and the Honda we have.  One thing I really appreciate about Import Auto Pro is that Rodney, the owner, is very honest and professional--professional in customer service and his expertise in repair work.  He really runs a great shop, and we have used him many times in the past few years.  Never any run-arounds or price surprises.  Top notch work!!
