This job was an unsafe situation for the contractor (and for me the home owner) because of the risk of falling into the ten foot deep pit, and because the pit was against the back side of the house and there was no way to easily bridge the 3.5 foot gap, and no easy way to attach a ledger board to the wall of the house. The weather was very cold the parts of three days which he did the job, and the whole work area was in shade all day - no warmth from the winter sun. (I would not have worked outside in that weather.) The pit extended about thirty feet along the back of the house and another eight feet around the corner of the house. He installed the panels at a slight slope, for rain runoff. The "L" corner, and the slope, required compound angles of cutting the panels and the "C" channel. I am pleased with his solution to the corner, and with the design overall. He made it watertight using the white peel and stick tape designed for use with these pre-painted aluminum panels. I would hire him again.
Description of Work: "Jamie" James Jordan, Jr. constructed a weatherproof cover over a long open concrete drainage pit along the back wall of our house. He used the 4" thick foam boards laminated with aluminum, like are use for construction of roofs of sun rooms and carports, etc. (That is why I checked the category sun rooms, because he has experience using those various aluminum components in the sun rooms he has constructed.) He constructed a very solid roof over the 30 foot long, by 3.5 feet wide, deep concrete pit. A person can stand on it, or put a ladder on it, so that we can now paint the upper wall of the house. I like the fact that it was not constructed of wood or shingles. Another contractor had proposed wood and shingles construction. I like the fact that he did the work himself, rather than hiring other laborers.
