Not well, the trainer that was there that day was not certified by the American Heart Association. The session was 2 hours and we only practiced once on the infant manikin, we did practice twice on the adult manikin. We were never asked when we was took the course/21 years for me 25 + years for my husband. We never physically practiced the choking actions. The trainer didn't use the training dvd that AHA requires them to use. The trainer informed us that the owner's name would be on the certificate and evaluation. We still have copies of the certificate signed by the owner not the trainer. We were encouraged to check that we received the booklet. The trainer did not give us the booklet for the training/just handouts that contained inaccurate information related to performing CPR while working at a child care facility. We did call after the class and the owner admitted that the trainer was not certified to train others. She was not feeling well and that is why she was not there, I asked why would you not just cancel the class? She did offer to train us again and we declined,we asked for our $ back and she mailed it to us, in cash, in an unmarked (no return address) envelope. We made a complaint to the AHA but they will not give the results of the complaint so we have no idea if the corrections were made.

I was CPR certified. It was at the provider's house. That felt a little weird. It wasn't clear if the home was zoned for a business. My impression was that it isn't. The training was in the bonus room upstairs. The instructor went over many hours of material in little over an hour. That was okay because I think that the videos and standard training is very long with unhelpful activities. However, I wasn't that happy with all of the comments about "well, I don't agree with the AHA about... and so I'm going to teach it this way..." It made me less confident in the training. All in all, I do feel like I was trained well enough to do what I would need to do if someone needed CPR rescue and that is the main purpose. That is why I didn't grade this provider low.

"I train quite a few people from Duke hospital, and they always say to me they learned more in my class than they do at the hospital. I am sorry this student didn't get more out of my class."

I spoke with the instructor on the phone. She was very friendly and helpful. I made my appointment with her and was able to get in for a class the next day. I took my class and was very impressed with her. She does the classes in her home. Her home is a very clean and comfortable environment. She has a room dedicated to teaching classes. She is very knowlegable and keeps the class interesting. After the class I received the certificate immediately after I passed my test. I will definately be using her services again when I need to renew my certification.

"[member name removed], thank you so much for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the class. It's amazing how many people don't know that anyone can be trained in CPR, no matter what their age."

It was excellent, thorough, and the group was small which made it nice. She was well prepared and the service was held in her home.

My wife and I found out about Action CPR through the Living Social deal. We paid $35 for the CPR course while it usually is $55. The course takes place in the house of Joanne Fried. She has an upstairs bedroom devoted to CPR training. Our class was with another couple and an individual. It appears that her classes are no larger than that so you really get individual attention. There are adult dummies to train on and each person gets his or her own. For the infant, we all had to share. In addition to CPR, we also learned the Heimlich Maneuver. My wife and I both thought that the course was beneficial and recommend it others. It was nice that the course was available on a Saturday afternoon.
Response from Action CPR LLC
"[member name removed], thank you for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed my class. I can train up to 8 people in my office, but I also travel for groups of 4 or more anywhere in the Triangle, and anywhere in North Carolina for 10 or more. I have over 65 corporate accounts, and I do give group discounts."
