Cranfill Painting bid on the job to paint the exterior of my house. He indicated that he had a full crew of 4-5 people to do the job. He first told me he would start in a couple of weeks. I agreed and told him once he started to work right through until it was finished. He indicated that it was fine and would be done. He estimated it would take approximately 6-7 full work days with a full crew to complete. This was the same amount of time the other paint companies who I received estimates from said the job would take.
He next contacted me in a couple of days after I received his estimate. He said that the job he was working on had a delay for a foundation repair and he wanted to start my house the next day. He said he was sending his crew over to start the prep. The next day 2 workers arrived to start prepping the house. Over the next week they were there on and off but never more than 2 workers. The owner of the company rarely showed up and never did any work.
By week 7, after multiple counseling sessions with him, which fell on deaf ears, I fired the company. I had to then go out a re-bid the job, only to find that other companies did not generally like to clean up messes caused by their competitors.
There was never a full crew at the job. At best there were 2 workers. I would see the owner show up early and then leave even after I complained. He just ignored my complaints and did whatever he felt like.
There are many more specific issues but I will not list them here as a safety measure for possible future legal action.
"In response to this review. This job changed the day I showed up they added 2 colors not in bid and I was told there wouldn't be a drastic change in body color and there was I was fine with that. Then the color the picked only came in a product more expensive than what I bid and had to order it and it took a week to get here which threw my scheduling off completely. I had guys there working everyday the weather permitted. I told the homeowner(like I do all homeowners) it would take the better part of 30 days to complete the project. Instead of talking to me and letting me know he wasn't happy he jumps straight to yelling and talking down to me. I had 3 days to completion of project when he got in my face yelling again and fired me. Now refuses to pay anything! This is a first for me I've been painting in the high county for 20 years and have never had a complaint. This whole ordeal is mind blowing! You can't make everyone happy"
I was extremely impressed with Nathan's work ethic. He and his crew always showed up on time and went right to work and worked steadily the entire time they were on the property. I paid him and his crew on an hourly basis. Not only was his hourly rate reasonable, but I think I got extremely good value for my money. .And my house has never looked better, both inside and out.
We purchased a home that was badly in need of updating and repair. The entire home was wood paneling with dark trim and cabinets. The ceiling had numerous stains from water damage. We wanted to lighten up the home with a cream white color which we knew was going to be a very tough job. It was obvious when Nathan Cranfill showed up to look at the job that he had experience with the type of work that needed to be done. He spent time with us listening to what we wanted and also provided suggestions and ideas. Because the home is a vacation home for us, we wanted someone that we felt comfortable would do the job without us being around frequently to check on status and Nathan was our choice.
Work completed:
Painted ceiling - stain blocking primer, sand, caulk and painted white
Wood paneled walls and dark wood trim - sand, stain block primer, caulk and painted creamy white
Kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities - painted dark wood a grey color and finished with a poly coat
The job was a challenge. I think the guys went through a couple cases of caulk just trying to get the paneled walls in good enough shape to be painted. We are extremely pleased with the finished job. The quality of work was excellent. Nathan kept us up to date on progress and was flexible with his schedule when necessary. He came back out to the home when we noticed a small area where some of the staining bled through and put on an additional coat of paint.
