The owner came promptly as promised, and provided a firm quote, which I thought was a reasonable price. The workman arrived as scheduled to perform the work about ten days later. The job was completed per the schedule quoted, and the workman left the site in clean and orderly condition. The refinished oak floor, however, has a pattern of ripples or undulations throughout from the sanding machine. I asked the owner about these, and he came to look at them. He left a phone message afterward saying that the sander marks were the result of the way the builder had constructed the house 11 years earlier, and not the fault of his company's workmanship. These sander marks were not present beforehand, and were clearly the result of the refinishing process. My expectation was that the finished floor would be smooth just like it was prior to refinishing. The sander undulations detract from the overall appearance of the house. I would not use this contractor again, or recommend to others for this reason.
