Interior Painting, Exterior Painting
$10,000
First of all, he comes across as one of the nicest fellow you can ever meet.  He will do anything for you until you complain about something.  He would show up and try to do any job even though all I wanted him to do was PAINT.  It all started when he would quote me a price and we would agree upon that price (I would write the price down and he would SIGN it), then when he would finish the job the price would be $200-$300 more than the original quote.  He painted different things in stages and after completing each job - dining room, kitchen, etc. he wanted money for that particular job.  At one point when he was trying to inflate the price, he tried to say that we never paid him for the kitchen when we had.  He did not prime the wood on the outside of my house and all of the paint is now popping off the outside of the house.  He also did not prime when he painted my kitchen.  The paint has PEELED off of the ceiling and popped off of the cabinets and all trim.  Looks terrible!  He removed the storm windows to paint the windows and BROKE all of the storm windows and left the broken storm windows behind the shrubbery of my house.  In addition, I had wrought-iron furniture that had belonged to my mother-in-law on my front porch and he threw all it in the bushes (while working on the front porch) onto my shrubbery and broke the furniture.  He painted my porch the wrong color (BROWN) should have been WHITE on a Friday and refused to take any of my calls when I arrived home from work (work in Raleigh, NC) and exploded!  My house had to look absolutely horrible an entire weekend.  He turned on the outside hose located behind the shrubbery in the front of the house and left it spewing out water.  I discovered it a week later when I was outside looking at the house.   He never apologized for leaving it on, breaking the furniture and storm windows.  He was supposed to STAIN my deck but he PAINTED IT.  (You can just imagine how it looks now).  He stopped taking my calls and refused to call me back.  My calls started out very politely, but became increasingly rude.  After which, he repainted the porch the correct color while I was at work, went inside to see my husband (who is disabled) and told him he had finished the job and that I HAD TOLD HIM to pay them.  My husband paid them for the work and they weren't finished by a long shot.  They did not paint the back railing leading into the sunroom or the mailbox and they did not scrape the windows where they had painted.  My experience with him was the worst I have ever experienced. Now three years later, my house looks as though it has never been painted and we are looking for someone else to do the job.
