Blair Yount was prompt, and did all of the work as requested, as scheduled.  I can't speak for the price, because I don't know what electricians make, but he did a lot of crawling in the attic and other places to get the wiring upgraded where needed.  He also had to do some cabinetry to accommodate a different circuit breaker panel configuration, and added an outside connection to accommodate the new outside unit on the HVAC system and potential connection to outbuildings.  He arranged for all the inspections, and came by to show us exactly what he had done, and made some suggestions/observations about other unrelated infrastructural things that he thought we might need to know about the house.  He brought a guy from the Duke Energy to make sure they understood what is needed to restore power now that the work is done, including all follow-ups.  Very friendly and helpful - threw in some additional work at no extra charge.  He came with a good recommendation, and I'm passing it on!
