All County-Wide Appliance Repair

Last week I found a refrigerator repair service on Angies List, All County-Wide Appliance Repair, owned by Bob LeBeau, which services Western North Carolina. I want to warn others about using this service. After giving Bob exact directions over the phone to my home he told me it would be a $95 trip charge. I thought that was high but agreed since I'm way up in the mountains. I have a 12 year old Kenmore side by side unit. The freezer was working great, making ice and plenty cold but the refrigerator side was not cooling enough, only about 58 degrees. When Bob arrived he tinkered with the fridge for about half an hour, vacuumed the coils in the back and told me the coils were bad and it wasn't worth fixing. He said I should just get a new fridge. When he wrote up the ticket he charged me $125 for the trip charge, and $100 for labor. I reminded him that wasn't what we agreed on, but he insisted on it so I paid him $225 for basically nothing. I knew what Bob told me wasn't right so I had Sears come out yesterday. They charged me a $65 trip charge which went towards the repair. The tech found the problem and fixed it in 15 minutes. The damper control that lets the cold air in from the freezer was broken. It was stuck shut and need to be replaed. The total bill was $305 including parts and labor. They whole thing is working great now. People need to know that not only is All County-Wide Appliance Repair incompetent, the owner doesn't keep his word either.
