Once Paradise Decking's trailer was parked outside our house, we started to hear stories from people in our neighborhood. Not contractor horror stories— happy stories. We knew Paradise had done some work in our neighborhood (seeing their trailer was how we'd heard of them in the first place). We just didn't know how much. Turns out they'd done the decks we'd admired on the houses on either side of us. Our crew chief, Troy, recalled working on both of them early in his time with the company over 20 years earlier. I felt that it said something good about the company if they retained employees that long.
We heard other stories, too. One neighbor quoted her husband saying that their screened porch from Paradise was one of the few things in life that had actually exceeded his expectations. Of all the stories I heard, all were very favorable—not a single negative story in the bunch.
Our work was finished yesterday, and I could not be more pleased. Our deck, made with composite decking (Trex) is spacious, sturdy, and attractive. So much nicer than the sad little rectangle of wood we had before. Here are other things my husband and I liked about Paradise Decking:
- Prompt: Our crew showed up promptly every day and worked hard.
- Knowledgeable: Whenever my husband and I had a question, Troy was able to answer it clearly in a way that made sense. We never felt like we were being sold a bill of goods.
- Neat: Construction work does involve a certain amount of mess, of course, but these guys cleaned up after themselves every day, and washed down the deck on their way out the door yesterday.
- Fair pricing: When Brendon originally quoted the work, there was lattice up around the old deck. When it was torn down, it was clear that the existing posts were not in good condition, and were going to have to be taken down and replaced. At that point, they had us on the hook. They could have quoted us almost anything for the additional material and work, and as long as it wasn't outrageous, we would have had to pay it. But Larry, the owner, quoted us a price that was more than fair.
- Professional: I work from home, so these guys were literally outside my window all day. They were hard-working, polite, and professional. I heard one cuss word during the whole time they were out there. They heard more than that coming from INSIDE the house.
- Pleasant: Who's ever sad to have contractors leave their house? We kind of are! Our black Lab, who went insane the first time the crew came to work, soon fell in love with them. She would cry in the house like a lovesick teenager from the time their trucks pulled up in the morning until they got out and greeted her. I think she was a little sad they didn't take her along when they left.
- Efficient: Initially Brendon told us the job would take about a week and a half, but on the first day of work Troy told us it would take about three, and he was right. The guys worked very efficiently and got things done when they predicted.
Superb job in every aspect! Attention to detail, options presented, implementation far exceeded our expectations! That is really rare to find!
