+ -1 moreI called this contractor for a painting estimate (also known as KRS Painting) and he could start immediately. Initially asked for a very high deposit of $1300 but settled for $300. References were few, mostly older homeowners and commercial clients. He washed my house late one evening with only a backpack sprayer filled with bleach - no pressure washing. He rarely showed up before 11am or consistently, sometimes painting late in the dark. Helper was rarely supervised and worked slowly and sloppily. Mr. Smith demanded immediate payment once he felt the job was finished despite numerous discrepancies and problems. Reacted very poorly to issues even though he acknowledged them and discovered even more. He agreed to resolve discrepancies and apply a second coat of paint only for an additional cost. He resolved some issues and applied the additional coat of paint, again demanding full and immediate payment, leaving numerous insulting and harassing phone calls.
Description of Work: The project involved hand painting the exterior of our medium one-story house, cleaning and prepping first, replacing a couple of defective window sills and trim as well as a bit of siding in dubious condition with concrete board. Retaining the existing color scheme was to require only one coat of paint, however questionable cleaning and application necessitated an additional coat of paint to be applied, on the advice of the Sherwin Williams paint representative. Contractor supposedly used Sherwin Williams Duration Satin finish - house previously had a flat finish. Entire project took 3 weeks - 2 weeks for the initial cleaning, prepping, repairs, and the first coat of paint; and then one additional week to do repairs missed the first time and apply a second coat of paint to the house (a first coat where it was completely missed the first time).
