The situation with Piedmont Stone has been going on for almost 2 years now. It started off well, their bid was the highest of four bids but we decided to go with them based on the quality of work they promised. We trusted the owner, and when he told me he just visited a house that they had done work on 10 years ago to do a repair I was sold. They stressed the high quality of their finishing work as an important reason for giving them the job. Laying new stone on the porch and front walk started in Sept. 2013 and finished in Dec. 2013 except for cleaning and sealing to protect the stone and give it a finished look. We were told that the job would be finished in Spring, 2014. Things had gone well so far, so we paid for the work done to date and looked forward to seeing the finished product. Unfortunately, things began to go wrong that Spring. The company sent someone out to powerwash the sidewalk and porch to clean off residue remaining from the construction. The powerwasher damaged some of the concrete, so the company sent another employee to fix it. Things got worse. More powerwashing scarred the surface of the bluestone and eroded much of the color on the manmade stone. Eventually the company just gave up on the job and no longer responded to us. We finally hired another contractor to repair and seal the sidewalk and porch, and they finished their work recently. Our experience with Piedmont Stone was not satisfactory. They did the stone work, but did not properly finish and seal the installation. If you decide to use Piedmont Stone, don't pay for any work until the project is finished to your satisfaction!
