There were no significant issues over the 6 months of the actual building, other than weather-related delays and minor quality problems that were typically corrected in short order. A crack developed in the basement floor and required some remediation by the responsible subcontractor. The design of the drip cap under the roofing shingles was problematic from am appearance perspective, but we opted to leave it , even though AHP offered to replace it at no cost.  The project superintendent (C. Holloway) was the key to success once the construction began; without his dedication and expertise, it might have been a less successful outcome. He worked easily with us for work we wanted to do (in lieu of the AHP subcontractors) and made accommodations as needed to allow us time to complete our tasks. Many of the subcontractors were Hispanic, but generally the quality of their work was good, although on-the-job communication was at times difficult. It was important to be on the job site frequently and do our own inspections. One subcontractor damaged a security gate with his truck and did not report it, but was held accountable by AHP after we did. Because of the experience with subcontractors, I rated professionalism a "B". The quality of interior finish was generally good, but the painters made judicious use of putty. The interior moldings were all formed pressed fiber instead of wood; after painting, there was no way to tell, although the lack of durability against dings and dents showed up later. The paint on the front porch railings peeled after only a few months and the subcontractor came back to scrape and repaint.. It has since peeled again, but the house is out of warranty. The HVAC balancing was off for two rooms, but the subcontractor came back on two separate occasions and fixed it to our satisfaction. We are entering our third year in the house and love it. There have been no issues related to construction quality at this time.

They were the main contractors and I did not have to interact with any of the sub-contractors. They were a corporation and it has changed hands. All the people that I dealt with were either laid off during the recession or moved on to better jobs except for one person who was the project manager. They were extremely well-organized. They had a great plan with building the house. They were very professionally organized. They had a customized home plan where one could pick a basic plan and customize it to their liking. The exterior appearances were the same whereas the interior layout could be different. I moved into the house in May 2010. It was unique and economical. It was of a good value.
