Tony McVay has worked for me on both major and minor projects for 18+ months.  He has consistently given me excellent workmanship, integrity, professionalism, good advice and communication.  I am an absentee owner, and much of the time Tony has been working in my home on his own.  He has provided me with generous updates, pictures, and phone calls to keep me informed about progress.  He has also acted responsibley for my property in my absence, making sure it is secure, and advising me as needed.  Tony has always provided me with estimates and/or options, and all of his work has been contracted in writing.  His prices are very reasonable, and he has delivered all he has promised, and more.
I might add, too, that in the course of these projects, various issues within my family, and outside of Tony's control, have made it more difficult for him than anticipated.  He has accomodated my family and me with a smile and gracious good humor, even when it meant unexpected delays and inconvenience.
Tony is currently working on 2 more projects for me - the addition of a 300 sq ft sun room, and the demolition and replacement/expansion of a very large wrap-around deck 10' off the ground.  I will continue to contact Tony first for anything I need to have done in my home.

It didn't. Came to look and was suppose to get back to us with an estimate and never heard from them again.

I've covered most of this in my first answer. The work described there has been completed for a year now and is holding up very well. We've asked him to refinish our wood floors next and also plan to have him refinish our kitchen counters which are custom-made from local wood and need sanding and resealing.

 I had been looking for someone to do extensive remodeling, but as an absentee owner, was concerned about finding someone who not only would do a good job, but also someone who I could depend on to work without my continual presence on the job.  I found Tony McVay through a search of the internet. I contacted Tony through the website and received immediate response.  I established an appointment.  He reconfirmed the date and time before the meeting, arrived exactly on time, exhibited professional demeanor and listened carefully to what I wanted done, making detailed written notes.  He provided a written estimate within a few days.  I engaged him to perform the work.  He provided a detailed written contract for me, with full costs defined.  His fees were very reasonable. I soon found Tony to be very skilled, trustworthy, highly personable and clearly communicative of plans and progress.  Most days I received an email describing the plan for the day in the morning, and a report at the end of the day of what had been done and how it went.  I received frequent pictures of work as it progressed. I was impressed enough with Tony that our initial contract was just the beginning.  Over the course of the work, I asked him for several additional services.  Every additional job was represented with a written contract.  He made recommendations on the best, and most cost effective, approach and brought in other service providers when needed.  He closely supervised them and took responsibility for their work, as well as his own.  Tony cleaned up the worksite every day before he left, was diligent in making sure the house was secure, and accommodated changes in priorities with a smile, even when it was clearly difficult for him to do so.  I cannot say enough positive things about Tony and his work.  He is skilled, quality oriented, reasonably priced, dependable, honest and fair in all respects.  I highly recommend him and would seek out his services for any future needs.  I will be posting this same review in every forum that I can.

My call was answered promptly, followed by a consultation and estimate. I was given a definite start and finish schedule and an accurate estimate which included a caveat on unforeseen problems in an older house. The quality of their work is superior. Their attention to detail exceptional. They left the job each afternoon after having cleaned the work area and stowing supplies and equipment, an appreciated detail since my family and I were living in the house during renovation. They provided the materials after consultation on selection and cost. Not only do they do outstanding work, they were respectful of the fact we were living in the house at the time. At no time was I uncomfortable or inconvenienced.
