I was new to NC, and chose this realtor as his business was family owned, and his office was conveniently close to the Fresh Mart in Southern Pines. While in his office for our fist meeting, he explained to me that under NC law, I had to sign a contract stating that he was my exclusive realtor. I took him at his word and signed the contract. He showed me a few houses, most of which were his listings. I told him I wanted to look at other homes besides his listings, but he admanatly said there were none that met my requirements. I happened to find a home during an internet search and asked him about it. He took me to see the home, and I put a good faith deposit on the home. For personal reasons, I decided to pull out of the deal on the home. He became quite beligerent and threatened to sue me if I did. He said, I had signed a legally binding contract that would hold up in court. Bottom line, I was foolish for signing the contract. However, this realtor will use whatever means necessary to get his commission. I would not recommend this realtor to anyone.
